The photo of that kitchen knife is chilling. There's no good reason for a new-looking knife to be in a canal that I can think of. Just horrible.

Yeah same thought struck me, the photo of that knife is chilling, its seems to be a long enough knife as well. Poor Karen what a tragic waste of a beautiful life. Police arrived at the canal and found the knife less then 15 minutes later according to the paper. Are they acting on specific information has the accused caved in and is giving up everything?

The fact they have a knife makes Karen's death seem a lot more violent than I first imagined. I was thinking along the lines of an accident and then panicking or he's got carried away while they were intimate but no weapons used.

BBM (Bolded by me) I am thinking the same thing. To go to the exact spot where it was found, and to find it so quickly. Must have been acting on information that I think only the accused could have told them. Unless they have security footage showing him go there?

As for them being intimate that is unsubstantiated and we only have the word of the accused on that, I think the details about the accused statements saying that they were intimate should not have been made available to the media, that is my opinion. It is the only blemish on an otherwise exemplary investigation by the Glasgow Police.

I thought the same thing, I think I said so here. I thought it was very odd when they said that during the press conference. The only thing I can think, was at the time they had a reason for making it public. I can't think why they would divulge that otherwise, if they really considered AP not a suspect why would they have said it? Sorry I'm rambling now but hearing that, at the time raised a huge red flag for me.

If its true the police have Karen's glass then that's extremely efficient police work given she wasn't reported missing til 5amm and the club would have closed and probably washed up by then.

Yeah, I find that rather surprising.

Seeing the picture of the knife sent a shiver down my spine.

Looking at the photos of where the search took place it was conducted in an area that didn't look like it had CCTV coverage and one would have thought that if CCTV was in this area that would have been checked days ago. Im going for the suspect caving in this time. Also a member of the of public handed something of huge importance in to Police on Wednesday morning that could possible break the case the papers reported at that time. So one wonders what that was. If she was stabbed in the flat one would imagine the place will be full of forensic evidence.

The farm while rural doesn't seem to be the most secluded place that a body could be left, a number of houses, cars etc around, seems like a place that would have a a lot of comings and goings. My fear is that he went to this site to get rid of the body rather than to dump the body and this really disturbs me.

Just jumping off your post alreetlike, the article said Karen's friends suspected she may have had her drink spiked, maybe they were wise enough to keep her glass aside?

I imagine there's a lot more than one knife in the canals of Glasgow. We're the stabbing capital of the UK unfortunately.

I mentioned the security footage as an after thought when I remembered that (Bolded) as I just suddenly thought, private security camera?

I didn't believe that for a minute. I thought his story was suspect from the beginning. Possibly the police were trying to lull AP into a false sense of security so he would keep talking. The more he talks the more he will incriminate himself.

It didn't make any sense at the time, why would this be made public, it could offer no help or assistance in helping finding Karen it puzzled me. It was the totally unsubstantiated statement of a potential suspect. Yet while Police were telling the media that AP was not a suspect it seems they impounded his car on Monday evening. So it appears they were telling the media different things to what they were thinking privately.

Someone posted on one of the papers Facebook pages that CCTV from a near by shop had been handed in that showed something nasty happening not far from the club, it was qucikly removed so not sure if its true or just wild speculation.

Also in a normal case if a man had let a lady walk home from his house at 4 AM and she was later kidnapped and murdered he would be distraught and how could he live with that on his conscience. In this case all we got was the person said they had "consensual sex" , I couldn't imagine a guy saying that in such a case, seems like preparing for the Police finding his DNA on the body.

Some very interesting questions in this Irish times report, one of the questions that Im sure Police have already answered but not made public is when and where was Karen murdered, she went missing in the early hours of Sunday morning and the grey car that was seen acting strange near were her body was found on Monday afternoon between 11 and 3. So what happened between the early hours of Sunday morning and Monday afternoon.

Good thinking Batmangirl! I hadn't considered that. Very savvy friends, if that's the case.

You know what, I had a feeling that Karen never went to this pig's flat, I think he followed her and attacked her. Didn't the reports say that the cctv that showed them walking away from the nightclub seperately but in the same direction ?...

I used the term intimate because it's what was reported in the media. I didn't want to over complicate matters by bringing in sexual assault etc when we have seen no evidence that would suggest that so far.

I think they've said it to lure AP into a false sense of security.

I have to agree I have the feeling he was a suspect from early on they just didn't have enough evidence at the start.
