GUILTY UK - Laureline Garcia-Bertaux, 34, found dead in shallow grave, Kew, 7 March 2019

None of the news stories has said anything about where the dogs are now. Is that significant?

I would think not mentioning the dogs would imply they were ok.

Interesting that she was buried and not just left murdered in the property, but also that it was never going to be that long before she would be discovered with the grave being shallow and dug in the garden.

If I had to guess I'd say just giving the perpetrator long enough to leave the area and perhaps not having a vehicle to take her and bury her somewhere else.

Her brother lives in London too, so he could be the gentleman seen visiting her. When I worked with her she lived with her boyfriend at the property (they had been together long enough for her to say they were talking about kids) and had just adopted the second dog. She loved her dogs so much, I hope they are being well cared for.

I also pray that she is at peace and the killer is apprehended swiftly.

It’s not fully sunken in yet.....

I hope so, but you'd think the tabloids would do something about the dogs left in the house alone/barking/being cared for by X.

She was super outgoing, and very french. She was also taller and bigger then what is average for women so I suspect the garden thing was more a convenience thing. She usually worked every weekend on her side interests - the blog, stylist, film producer. She had a lot of friends and went out of her way to help anyone who needed it so I don’t think much longer would have gone before she was found. Up until a year and a half ago she lived with her brother, best friend and boyfriend. I hope the police have a lead on this and I’m choosing to assume her best friend or brother has her dogs now. Our other mutual friends I spoke to earlier are just as shocked and saddened by this as I am.

Her friend Daniel Hughes, 27, said he had spoken to her best friend, who reported her missing.

It was her best friend who reported her missing. Did she make it to the shopping trip in Oxford Street on Sunday?

'I think the last point the CCTV caught her was outside a Sainsbury's on Saturday evening in Richmond,' he said.

'She was meant to go shopping in Oxford Street on Sunday, daytime. She was meant to meet a man for coffee on the Sunday evening. We're not sure when the murder took place, whether it was Saturday night or Sunday night.

'She was meant to move out of that house on Monday morning.'

So, she was preparing to vacate that property?

Mr Hughes said he found the proposed meeting before his friend's murder 'a bit suspicious' and said he had been told the man was a 'charismatic' vet.

If you are describing a potential date to an ex colleague, are you likely to use the word ‘charismatic’? I wonder if that’s the exact word Laureline used.

'She met him in a shop or something like that and then he must have chatted to her then and they arranged a coffee on Sunday evening,' he said.

'We don't know if she went out to meet him or not because we don't know what the point was when that happened.'

......
......

Mr Hughes, who said he previously worked with Ms Garcia-Bertaux at the Discovery Channel, said she was single and lived alone with her two dogs.

'She's tall, got a lot of presence. Always very friendly, very talkative, would never have hurt anyone.

'Got a lot of confidence and passion, a lovely lady. She had a lot of friends as well, including me,' he said.

Is it common to put an emphasis on it?

'I'm pretty harrowed about it. I've been in that house, I've been in that garden. It's creepy, it's upset me quite a lot.'

The description of the vet was provided by her best friend who did speak like that. I can’t imagine Laureline using that word to describe someone though.

The including me comment is odd. She was very outgoing and when I first started working with her she introduced me to everyone and went out of her way to help. She used to cover my workload when I was on holiday or annual leave and I would pay her back with big bags of m&ms.

She taught me how to edit footage on a Mac and never hesitated to help me when I was stuck.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I can only imagine how hard this must be for you and all those who loved her.

A friend to everyone and ever willing to lend a hand. You are lucky to have known each other x

Thanks for clarifying about the ‘charismatic’ part. It’s just me wondering how I would have described a potential new date to someone - caveat: I’ve been out of the dating scene for a loooooong time.

Also wondering if she has told many people that she’s moving on that Monday.

From sharing the house with her bestie, bro and boy friend to living on her own, could that be part of the reason she’s moving out? Downsizing perhaps? London is such an expensive city. I’m amazed that people can afford to live on their own, in fairly decent addresses. Does she take in occasional Airbnb guests?

I hazard a guess that the perpetrator is not a random person. He/she must be known to her in some capacity. And even visited her in her space before. Someone ‘comfortable’ enough to hang around in the house after doing the dastardly deed and proceeded to tidy up loose ends.

Just my 2p. ☹️

Yes because all the links to MSM in this thread mention a lot about how much she loved her dogs, her type of dogs, the dogs she was always seen with, the dogs were never heard vs. the neighbour complained about the dogs noise. Dogs feature heavily in MSM.

Looking at the photos of those dogs makes me wonder if her attacker knew her and the dogs were familiar with him ....
I imagine if any type of violent physical attack took place in the property then those dogs would be making a lot of noise regardless of whether they knew the attacker or not. JMO.

Detectives are probing her love life after pals said she was active on dating apps including Tinder, Bumble and The Inner Circle.

And they want to trace a man she is said to have met for a date at the weekend.

She lived alone after splitting from Russian boyfriend Kiril Belorusov last year.

Friends said she had been due to meet a man for coffee on Sunday evening.

For sure Sera, however with the dogs barking historically the neighbours were not concerned...... they could have been thinking oh here we go again. I was thinking she knew her attacker and let them in - My best guess is a random attacker would run for the hills if they seen these big dogs.

Any idea whether LE have found her phone?

I'm surprised to hear she may have been going on a date on Sunday if she was going to be moving out on Monday morning. Also that she was reported missing because she didn't show up for work on Monday morning but that was when she would have been moving into a new place.

I wonder if she had assistance on Sunday with packing or moving things, even if there was no furniture to move I imagine she may have had more than just clothes to move, things like computer equipment, filming equipment, a TV, dog paraphernalia, knick-knacks, pictures, luggage etc.
