Possible influenza
Lexi was about to be placed on high-flow oxygen therapy when she “deteriorated”, says Dr Newall.

Her temperature shot up and Lexi began shaking, which Dr Newall described as “rigors” - episodes in which your temperature rises quickly accompanied by severe shivering - and she asked Porton at the time if that was what she had witnessed at home.

Dr Newall says Porton said it was the same shaking and this led the doctor to believe that Lexi had not suffered a seizure, but it had been rigors instead.

The consultant who had been called had now come in to the hospital and it was decided that Lexi most likely had a viral lower respiratory tract infection, possibly influenza.

Mum had to be prompted to check crying daughter
Dr Newall tells the court that it was noted that Porton “seemed quite distant at times” while in hospital with Lexi.

She adds: “Her child was poorly and she hadn’t really showed much emotion to that.”

It was also told to the doctor at the start of her next shift that other members of staff had noted that Lexi had been crying in the day and Porton had to be prompted to take action.

Court finished for day
That ends the evidence for today.

I'm hoping he might be there and has forgotten to post a live update. He didn't make his updates available live yesterday until almost an hour after he'd written them, and I think he did that once before too when Legally found a few hours of updates just suddenly appeared.

It's so frustrating when you are following closely and then days are missed. It looks like we missed a really important witness with number 39. Thanks to those that are giving all these posts and links.xx
