She says that Porton tried to pass off their deaths as “unexpected natural” deaths.

Porton "pretended" to take daughter to hospital
Speaking of Scarlett, Mrs Yip says that Porton drove around with her body in the car “pretending you were taking them to hospital” before calling 111 on February 1, 2018.

Evidence from her mobile phone showed Porton asking several men over the internet for cash to fill up her car with fuel, promising to pay them back and saying she would not ‘lose’ another baby.

Mr Smith said she was only 21 at the time of the events, now 23.

“Her age is a substantial factor in deciding the minimum term.She is someone without previous convictions.There was no evidence of neglect or hostility over a long period of time,” he said.

The judge says that Porton killed both girls by “deliberately obstructing their airways” and adds: “I am sure you are responsible for the events that led to Lexi being admitted to hospital [prior to her death in early January 2018].”

The truth is both children died because you deliberately obstructed their air ways. Text menages and internet searches done on your mobile phone reveal a degree of pre-meditation. I am sure you were responsible for the events that Led to Lexi’s admission to hospital

Porton is told that she delayed calling emergency services to both girls until she was sure they were dead.

Porton has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 32 years.

Your actions have devastated so many lives.

Lexi and Scarlett had so much to offer to their wider family but you took all of that away. Injuries raise concerns you may have assaulted them on other occasions. The incident on January 4 was life threatening, you are still young.

No doubt there were pressures on you. However, that cannot begin to explain what you did.

The evidence offers no real reason other than that you decided to end their lives.

The starting point is 30 years. The murder of any child by a mother involves the process of abuse of trust. They ought to have relied on their mother to look after them.

It is not a case of a young mother doing something in the heat of the moment. The evidence shows calculated decisions. In between the deaths you carried on as normal.

She said there was not long held premeditation. I consider that you are immature. You find it difficult to sustain emotional attachments.

She said the minimum term she will serve is 32 years

During her sentencing remarks, Mrs Justice Yip also told Porton that her actions “have devastated so many lives”.

During the trial it was put forward that Porton’s ability to live her life how she wished was being held back by her two young daughters, but the judge said: “Your daughters did not hold you back from what you wanted to do.

“There was no reason for their deaths other than that you decided to end their lives.”

Good police work in this case. I feel she would have done it again with future babies if she hadn't been caught. She felt nothing.
