Found Deceased UK - Liam Smith, 16, Aberdeen, Scotland, 17 Nov 2018

  • #241
Just seen a tweet from the Find Liam Smith Campaign account, not sure if I’m allowed to link :/

But the gist was that a man in a high-vis vest was seen removing at least four posters from bus stops for Liam.
Most bus shelters are maintained by private companies who have to keep them maintained to a certain standard. This includes removing any unofficial posters regardless of the subject. There is no law about missing persons posters being sacred.

The post you quoted never said bus shelters it said bus stops, which to me are two different things. Private companies do clean the shelters but i haven't seen them clean a single bus stop, even though no doubt several dogs have peed up them.

Also, isn't it local councils who contract these companies out to clean the shelters, take flyers down, etc.? Surely it wouldn't of hurt this person who took the posters down to contact his bosses or the local council to ask if it was ok to leave these posters up? Don't they have a conscience? A jobsworth possibly? Poor Liam hasn't been missing a month yet, it's insulting to take his posters down already.

yea it is very rude taking down the posters. here we are sharing them on social media and some jobsworth removes them - same as they remove the homeless people's belongings all over the country. i hope nobody freezes to death due to this!
Poor Liam - you know i wanna know more about this kid??? What is his personality like? We know he likes football and plays in 5 teams and went to westhill academy. he used to live there then moved into the west end of aberdeen. i think his dad now is actually his step dad - there were public photos of his mums very lavish looking beautiful wedding in italy and he looked around 10 years old with the most incredibly light green eyes. I could not understand why the missing posters did not have that info - so distinctive. a good looking kid.
I always like to have hope with any missing person but i am feeling tragic circumstances - im assuming his mum called round all his friends and then reported him missing at 11am the next day. being out during a saturday at 16 wouldnt be any big deal but what of night time? Is this out of character for liam or had he stayed out ever before without his mum knowing? did he lie and say he was staying with a friend and then next day his mum find out he was not there? did she know he didnt have his phone on him? I have panic attacks or i did - when my children were younger and for some reason they left phone behind - usually on charge. Mostly i would get calls via pals with them saying dont snoop at my phone haha

Can't believe this lads not been found yet.

My friends son was stopped and questioned today by police as he is the absolute double of liam. We're down in the borders so a fair distance, but people are aware and looking.

He's not going to be found ok is he? Urgh

We don't know, truth be told, where or how Liam is at this moment.

Thank you for sharing that the police are still as vigilant as they were at the beginning of the search for this young lad. The authorities have done a superb job searching and alerting the public.

There haven't been any updates for a few days. I suppose that's because nothing new has turned up.

I continue to hold out hope that Liam ran away and that soon he will return home. I genuinely have no reason not to think this way. We just don't know at this point. But we always have hope.

I believe i read that on the day Liam supposedly got off the bus in Crathes there was a football match or tournament happening that day. Has there ever been any information on whereabouts in Crathes this was being played and what teams were involved? We know Liam was into his football and i wondered if he had took his boots along that day hoping for a game maybe?

Great question, @WiseOwl ! I will see what I can find out. I recall reading that as well!

Liam has been missing for 4 weeks now; i really feel for him and his family at this time of year, they must be distraught at having no news. I wish we knew more about why he decided to head to Crathes that day, but i guess that will stay with his family and police for now.

This is a really sad case, it looks like Liam was attempting to runaway or commit suicide.

The River Dee has claimed lives before and during wet weather its currents could be particularly strong, is very close to his last whereabouts if the sighting in Crathes estate was correct.

They first searched at Lumphanan before moving the search to Banchory. Then they moved to Crathes. I recall it was a number of days before the started looking in the Dee and as you say, the current can be very strong.

A body washed up here today, we are about an hour or so south of Aberdeen. Don't think it would be connected however, unless he went into the sea at Aberdeen somehow.

The answer to this mystery could be in any direction.

All theories are possibilities, including the one where the police state that Liam is back home with his family.

I have recently read @earthspirit post ........mentioning Westhill Academy & that Liam used to live in Westhill, which is about 20 mins drive from Aberdeen & only 7.9 mile away. Liam would (most likely) know this area really well, wonder if he is around Westhill area??

Please Lord, Praying for Liam to return home safely. Protect him while he's away and provide a safe path for him to return to his family who love him.

ive been up and down the dee over a lifetime and i really do not think he went in there and hasnt been found yet. you see lots of it are not very deep at all and its ankle deep unless there are torrential flood - not the present conditions of the river. also the grass verges and embankments are kept cut back very neat and not really big weeds or tree roots to get caught up in. he could sadly get washed down river and right out to sea in the dark - thats possible and the estuary near the torry bridge is very very dangerous. ive been in there swimming years ago and really got a shock at how cold the water is - the undercurrent really does pull you under - far more dangerous than swimming in the sea

there is a possibility that liam did head upcountry and go to westhill area. its where his friends lived and he must have known little places round about there. It is a bit of hike and uphill walk but yea its possible. so much forest area to search tho
