I'm a bit confused as to why the police are asking for witnesses between 11pm and 12.09. Surely, since LS is still missing one would have thought they'd want it beyond 12.09? Am I missing something?

*drumming fingers waiting to hear if the 9:11 deadline is going to be extended again*

Am I right in thinking that after 9:11 tonight (less than two hours away) the police will have a MAXIMUM time of 24 hours, to make a total 96 hours, to either charge him with abduction or release him? Can that 24 hours be split? In theory could they keep him in another 23 hours and let him go, then bring him back for one hour when/if they get evidence?

@Alyce I think you explained it earlier but can you repeat?

Don’t know if any of you have seen and it may not be related but there is a 14 year old lad that’s been missing in hull for 3 days!

Yes, but assumed it was unconnected. Do you have a link?

Can those of you who've posted about the FB comment please edit/delete. Thanks @Steleheart for the guidance. We should not be discussing it (and neither should he!!!)

If he's genuine the news will be out officially pretty soon.

We DO NOT want the thread closed for clean up.

Are any of my questions about it due a delete??

To my mind they want to see if she spoke to anyone before she went missing

Yes, people have been kicking off that Libby is getting all the attention. Difference is that it seems something sinister has happened to her, whereas the boy has run away before and they think he has again this time.

I see a lot of FB posts about local missing kids and sad to say some of them have become so familiar that I just scroll past. One girl has been missing 4 times already this year. She obviously needs serious help but I don't think the answer is a media campaign, flyers and poster trucks.

Dangerous ground really. One day one of these regularly missing kids will end up being genuinely missing or murdered, and people won't be looking.

Ah thanks for clarifying that. I assumed which is why I also ignored it. oops.

Oh dear. The Police are going to be really stretched with both these missing cases. Do you think they are remotely linked?

Nope!

Actually, Humberside Police have responded to the criticim:

Humberside Police We appreciate your comments and concerns and wanted to take the opportunity to shed some light on how we investigate missing people reports. When we receive a report of a missing person we begin carrying out enquiries immediately to find out where that person is. We look at different factors (including their health, personal circumstances, age, character, if there is a history of them going missing, etc.) to assess the level of potential risk to that person. We then use this assessment to identify and investigate any tangible lines of enquiry and in some cases this may include a press release asking the public for help. There are however some instances where a press release is not suitable straight away. Sometimes there are other lines of enquiry that need to be completed before a release is issued, issuing a release too soon could actually be harmful to an investigation. Putting an appeal out requires careful consideration from those involved in the investigation, in some cases this includes consultation with other organisations.

In this instance we have been following active leads since the report came in and our teams continue to do so. We are now also in a position to ask the public for help through an appeal. We ask anyone with any information that may help us find Harvey to please get in touch by calling 101.

The kids friends have seen him since he's been missing since I think the police are assuming he just is hiding from his parents maybe

They must have a reason to keep going back to these playing fields, surely? Especially as it's pitch black now - it's like they know they're looking for something.
