It bugs me that there’s so many cases like Libby’s where it is revealed the missing person has mental health issues and a general consensus forms that they’ve disappeared of their own accord. I wish they were restricted from releasing such information unless there’s evidence the person had made threats to harm themselves. It really causes an investigation to be slow to start. It also worries me that if I was a missing young woman like Libby that they’d write me off as a suicide due to the medications I take and past life experiences. Scars do not mean someone wants to disappear, so many people suffer with anxiety and depression that it shouldn’t be considered a huge red flag straight away. I’ve been on a high dose of antidepressants for 9 years, I’ve said I don’t want to live anymore several times but right now I am not depressed and if I disappeared tonight then it wouldn’t be of my own accord. -Jmo after the mentions of self harm.

Forensic teams at Oak Park again per Hull Live. Wonder why they go there when its dark?

Because there is limited time to find something to incriminate the current suspect.

*drumming fingers waiting to hear if the 9:11 deadline is going to be extended again*

Am I right in thinking that after 9:11 tonight (less than two hours away) the police will have a MAXIMUM time of 24 hours, to make a total 96 hours, to either charge him with abduction or release him? Can that 24 hours be split? In theory could they keep him in another 23 hours and let him go, then bring him back for one hour when/if they get evidence?

@Alyce I think you explained it earlier but can you repeat?

Yes you’re right.... the final 24 hours is from 9.11pm tonight, if they do decide to go for it.
And yes, they can stop the clock at any time ...and then re arrest him and use whatever time they have remaining

Stop the clock sounds like a game. I suppose it is, in a really warped sense.

They have exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes to extend or release.

I'm stickin' my skinny neck out as Liaison here...
Really, point me where to go and look on the internet breaks the rules here?
No, mods have said several times during this case that you can paraphrase what’s on social media, as long as you’re not directly linking or discussing the content of what’s been said. I think Jessie is misunderstanding that part in fear the thread gets closed
This is me pointing ---> Rules - Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Social media pages that fall in the following categories are OFF LIMITS.
Family members of either a victim or a suspect
Friends of either a victim or a suspect

My guess is they will go for the full 96...but if they are going to release, I would expect it to be done already, but they won’t announce until very late,to give time for him to leave the station and avoid media.
Though having said that, I expect there will be journos around anyway.

I think there must be a breakthrough

I see the police are still in his street - not sure if it's his house

DNA evidence has come through from there? Or the suspect has said more?

BREAKING: Police granted more time to quiz Libby Squire suspect
A further extension has been granted by the courts for officers to question a man arrested in connection with the disappearance of Hull student Libby Squire.

The extension allows officers to continue to question the 24-year-old until 9.11pm tomorrow (Sunday, February 10).

Detective Superintendent Mathew Hutchinson said: “I can confirm that the court has granted us a further 24 hours to question the man.

“We are still treating Libby’s disappearance as a missing person’s enquiry. I have said previously that we are keeping an open mind as to her whereabouts and that is still very much the case.

“Our number one priority is to find Libby Squire and we are still conducting extensive searches and appealing for any information from the public.”
