Off topic but I'm trying to do the 52 book challenge this year and have done zero book reading this week. Do you think Websleuths cases should count? ;)

Absolutely !

Maybe not a "relationship" but he's only 24, he might go drinking at Welly sometimes too, he may simply just recognise her from seeing her out drinking.

Good point - he is only 24. He married young and had a young child and a newish baby. His mum or his sister said he was not happy at first in the UK until he met the woman who (he married?) he settled down and had kids with. Did he get together with a woman who he really liked because he was so unhappy but perhaps as time has gone on he realises she is isn't his true love - add that to the stresses emotionally and financially of having a young child and baby - maybe he realised he wasn't happy again after all? I feel bad writing this as I want to believe he is innocent and it was just a case of series of things happening / that went wrong, rather than something nasty.

it does look like hes waiting for the cars to pass. most cars interior lights come on when a doors are open so he would have been visable to anyone passing.

Do we see an interior light when he is sat on the edge of the car seat with the door open?

He didn't necessarily need to be unhappy to go drinking at the Welly. He might have the odd lads night out with his friends or something, I don't think it's odd that a 24 year old might occasionally go to the pub/club whether he's happily married or not.

I think she may well have known her postcode , a student tenancy begins in July each year as you have to sign up for a full year even though you probably won’t move into it until end of September for start of term. My son at university is always calling for taxis to get into town so he would have learnt his postcode very quickly as having to give it to taxi firms at least once a week on a night out.

For reference - a 4 bedroom house on a sharing basis in Raglan St would be £75 per week per room.

Check out this property to rent on PrimeLocation!
Regarding the rent, I rent out a house in Portsmouth for £800 to couples. Similar houses on the same street are student houses and would be charging double that as every room including the lounge is converted into bedrooms. So, rent isn't always comparable in the same road, it depends what market you're in as a landlord

Can't stop thinking it was just so unfortunate that Libby chose that bench to sit in
I'd imagined it as one near the road given that people had stopped. Looking at in images posted here it's set right back and surrounded by bushes, it was a very dangerous place for her to be given her vulnerable state :(

Two questions just to clear my mind

1) my son is at university in Reading , lots of the roads have parking permits to allow residents to park in certain roads , is anything like that in place in certain roads in Hull ?

2) the road where the arrested person lives , do students live in this road , I’m asking as someone said it may be a 4 bedroom house . My son rents with 4 others in Reading to a house and street similar to this and the rent is well over £2000 a month . I’m asking how much would the rent be where the arrested man lives , would he get benefits on top of his wages to pay the rent , a 4 bedroom house possibly with only 2 small kids seems a luxury rather than requirement , I wondered if they possibly had a lodger also to help with rent.

I
The property, according to Zoopla, is a 2 bed terrace, not a four bed

Has anyone considered that Pawel and Libby already knew each other?

I think it's unlikely because if they knew each other why does he not go to her immediately or stopped his car at the bench? He seems to be waiting for something, or hiding, or thinking ...

, I wondered if they possibly had a lodger also to help with rent.

Or maybe a family member stays with them.

The arrested man has a sister also living in Hull.

Someone asked if he has family here. She lives here. She is the same one who spoke to the DM.

I once had to move back in with one of my parents after a relationship broke down and I couldn't afford our flat by myself. I went out drinking one night and accidentally ended up being driven to my old flat instead of my parents house - on the opposite side of the city. Lol. These things can happen, especially since we know Libby was highly intoxicated and had been having pre-drinks at The Courtyard a few hours previous; she used to live there too, maybe she was so drunk, cold and confused that she thought she still lived there. Just a possibility.

Have we got any Hull university students in here? Am I allowed to ask this? I'm just wondering the report in the same week (was it the same week?) about a man in a balaclava doing something. Was this something that happened to a University student? If so, talk will be rife. Reason I ask is that a few years ago I know someone at a different university (in the North) who told me about three separate incidences where drunk female students were leapt upon, grabbed, lifted up (she was tiny) and taken towards a car, when there was a male present and in the same period some students walked past a potential gang rape happening. The Police weren't that helpful and all they wanted was car numberplate in a "Did you get the car reg?" "Er no, I was trying to get her out of the man's arms at the time and run away". The university were asked by the students concerned to warn others but all that happened was a message went out to all students to remind them to stay safe on a night out - no mention of recent incidents. So...all this got me to wonder if there has been other incidences/attmepts in the area recently?

That £325pcm is per room per month = 4x £325 = £1300. It was in reference to the poster speaking about rent in Reading for student accommodation. I wasn’t meaning this is exactly what PR would be paying.

By all means different houses will have different costs though.

she could possibly live at the same address.

with regards to benefits, if they have a young family on low income they could receive universal credit.

I want to second whoever said that it is hard to think of a good reason for a man to put a very drunk girl in his car, very late at night, in a dark and quiet street.

If you want to help in that situation, you call emergency services. OR, if you have a phone and she doesn't, you call her friends for her. You let her log into facebook. You stay with her until she's made contact with a friend.

You don't put her in your car and drive away. Sorry. Just not buying it. EVEN IF SHE ASKED TO GET IN HIS CAR. WHY LET HER? He is married with two small children who presumably at this moment are at home, needing him.

He had a phone. He could have called her friends. Why on EARTH would he get her in his car, for any good reason?
