He would if he went back the same night. When he realised what he’s done, his first instinct would probably to run away from the scene. Then after he’d had time to collect his thoughts, he probably realised that if he left the body there with his DNA on it, he was in deep trouble. In that situation most people would act as quickly as possible to go back and cover their tracks.

Hi all! Haven't had time to read the last 20 pages of thread 2 yet. What's this about a bench in the park? Did we get some new information?

This evening CSI turned up and spent about 90 minutes placing evidence markers down around a bench and photographing it. This coincided with the news they have agreed the final 24 hours arrest extension. It means that 9:11pm Sunday is crunch time - charge or release

They are both on the same stretch of path, one nearer the paddling pools and one in the trees to the right of the photo. I'm wondering if it's the first one that's closer to the pools, as it matches the description of the bench being near the play area but in quite an open area.

I've noticed the house at the entrance to the park, surely they would have heard any screams?

I don't understand why they entered the park in the first place when he had a car, very suspicious seeing as sitting on a metal bench in winter is very cold. And it appears the park would be very dark at night, it seems to have no lights which would have made it very difficult to see without a phone to light up your path. Being drunk in a park with lots of water and no light is a recipe for disaster.

Also the poor girl would have already been totally freezing. A short car ride would hardly warm her. And it's possible the cctv guy was wearing shorts, if it was him!

Our reporter at the scene says: “They are close to the play park but it seems to be in a fairly open area.”

Yes, from what I can on Google Earth this area has the playpark
on one side and the skate park on the other. They are in a “fairly open area” in that there are no trees in between them, you could walk freely between them, have clear sight of each area etc.

I’d like to know more about kind bearded man. Where did the description of older, grey bearded man originate from? I know he has come forward but still...something is bugging me.

Ah I'm sorry! A lot has happened today. Suspect still in custody until tomorrow night - at which point he will either be charged or let go. CSI placing evidence markers and taking photos at a bench in the park in the dark. Looks like they have been told exactly where to look IMO although not sure whether by suspect or someone else.

They might have been close to the river when he attacked LS - and adrenalin / panic would surely kick in to enable him to run back out of the park.

Tried to edit this, but perhaps a new post is easier.

Having had a wander round the park area, via google, I have to admit that the river doesn't look close enough for him to get her that far in the short time frame that we know of.
00.09 hrs LS and suspect are at Haworth St
00.15 to 00.30 hrs screams heard in park area - I would think if he was trying to move her from the play area towards the river, then the screams would have started to fade as they moved further away from the houses.
But from what the witness has said ( and I may be interpreting it incorrectly ) it seemed as though the screams stopped and the man ran out of the park, almost immediately after this.

If the police end up charging suspect for abduction and/or murder/manslaughter and they believe LS ended up in the river then does anyone know how long they'd keep looking? I really do hope she's still alive or suspect (if guilty) tells them where to find her but if he didn't then would they go all out to search the river for her or would it end up being a privately funded search like in Emiliano Sala's case? I feel as though the police would do everything they could to find her but do they have enough funding to use all the special underwater cameras etc?
