How many people think Libby will be found safe and well? How many think she’ll never be found? Just really curious as to what other peoples views are..

In the early days of this case, I had high hopes Libby would be found alive and well.. but as the days go on, I am more and more inclined to believe she is in the water and may never be recovered.

Unfortunately I think the chances of her being found safe and well are extremely remote. For her to still be alive, she would either have to be still held captive by somebody or deliberately hiding. Kidnapping and holding adults against their will does happen but is extremely rare, and I can't see anything in the circumstances of Libby's disappearance to suggest she is voluntarily hiding.

Does anyone have a theory that is just so far out there it would be statistically almost impossible, and yet their mind keeps coming back to it? I’m just curious.

Obviously one theory that in my mind is very unlikely is that she’s being held captive somewhere, in a loft/attic in someone’s house, or an abandoned house somewhere, but I think the chances of that are really slim. Has there even been a case like this in the UK? The only really captivities I’ve known about were the Cleveland kidnappings in America!

The most likeliest scenario in my mind is that she’s in the water and will never be found.

I think the most far out theory I have heard so far is that she might have climbed a tree and is up in the tree canopies. Can't remember if it was posted by someone in this thread or the previous...

The Daily Mail briefly referenced the balaclava on 7 Feb ("It has also emerged today that a man in a balaclava was seen near Libby's home, according to the Mirror") but can't find any such story in the Mirror.

I do think it looks like something is over the cyclist's face and thought maybe they were working together based on the reports of a previous incident on Newland avenue. Clubs did put out a warning after about the fake taxi and someone posted a picture of a man running down a street wearing a Balaclava. I was going to put a link to the stuff but I think it's against forum rules because it was on social media. Also it's hard to know what's fact and what's rumour on social media."

The warning was from Tom Thorp, owner of the Piper nightclub, who shared a Facebook post after an unlicensed taxi was seen touting for business on Sunday 3 Feb around Newland Avenue. But the driver of the blue/black VW was identified and spoken to by police:

Have the family started a Find Libby facebook page or have they been advised not to? If not, they really should start one in my opinion.

They've drafted in extra specialist search teams from York and Lincoln today, and they are back at Oak Road, even though it is not cordoned off anymore.

If this kid had never heard a screaming fox before he could definitely mistake it for a screaming woman, like I did!

On YouTube there are a few examples of screaming foxes if anyone wants to look and see what they think!

It's subjective I suppose, and based on familiarity. Some of us have heard them regularly and could differentiate between that and a human scream, some of us haven't or can't, all depends on how used to it you are I suppose.

We do not know whether the witness is familiar with the sound or not. He may have said "yep, definitely human, I know full well what foxes sound like". We just don't know.

My point is... because we don't know, and because we don't even know if there are foxes in the area, we can't just dismiss it.

I personally would just incase they had cut their wrists or something. But everyone's different.

I'd check if they'd cut their wrists before I called 999 - it would be an appalling waste of resources for the ambulance service to turn up for grazed knees. Or drunk girls, for that matter.

I wonder if the police are actually in the park looking for something of his.
Let’s say his sister was correct when she said he put LS address in his sat nav. Maybe he used google maps or similar on his phone rather than a tom tom or garmin.
If he did take LS to the park and something went wrong, maybe he tried it on with her or flashed at her, maybe she ran off screaming and he panicked. He may have thought if she went to the police they could prove he had picked her up as he had her address in his phone so he threw it in the pond or the undergrowth.
When he was arrested the police would have asked him for his phone and he would say he lost it. If the police contacted his service provider they could tell the police when it was last used and the last known location.
Maybe they are looking for the phone not LS. Finding it could prove very valuable.

I think they are looking for something of hers or his because that would define that area as a crime scene.

It is not the job of the Police to inform the public of the details of their investigations.

I’m pretty sure if I had a lift previously from a suspected abductor that I would tell more than just the police, family and friends at the very least and I’m sure they would relay it also. I doubt I would contact the tabloids offering to pay for such information, but dare say others may.

Claims saying she may be up a tree are about as likely as aliens coming to abduct her. Really not a possibility in my eyes. This isn’t the island with bear grylls.

This is the first time I’ve heard that the park scream/ running man reports came from a child! Is there a link to the report? The only ones I’ve seen refer to a man saying “my son heard...” but not referencing an age.

Stella8's right, no age was given for the son. His language seemed relatively mature to me ("eerie, dark"; "because of this pattern, I thought I must be dreaming"). I don't think we are talking about a very young witness.

Yes. She caught the train to Her parents house in High Wycombe and she has been sat in the living room wondering where everyone has gone for almost 2 weeks. If only she would turn the telly on she could put an end to this right away.

I don't know about everyone else, but when I played this through my headphones I was more freaked out by the whispering man!!

Someone mentioned that the pond should have been frozen over since it was -5. I'm not sure how long this cold weather had gone on prior to LS's disappearance or whether it has continued. I live in Maine in the U.S. - one of the coldest states. I know that it takes at least several days or more of 32 degrees (or really in the 20s) before a pond will freeze solid (although someone can fall through). A river, however, probably would not freeze. Clearly, the pond isn't frozen now...does anyone know if it might have been the night LS went missing?
