Unless, as we suspect, they have some evidence putting P at that park, and the sister’s story about him giving “a crying girl” a lift is true, in which case he may have concocted some bench story in his defence
Agreed if the police have evidence putting PR at the park then the bench story could just be a fabrication to suit his purposes , or they might even really have sat together on the bench before things took a down turn.
But if the police are sure based on irrefutable evidence above and beyond just PR that the park is the location then i would have expected a more comprehensive search, jmo. I dont feel the police are sure at all.

there is a cctv camera overlooking mecca car park pointing towards clough road, also ive walked the full left of barmston drain today (apart from the odd bits you cant access) and not seen anything and anyway if LS was in the drain somewhere she would be caught downstream at the wincolmlee sluice gates eventualy which lead into the river hull plus we havent had any appreciable rain since LS dissapeared so cant see her getting that far downstream anyway. also had a look around oak park near the croda fence not far from the big pond and this I have no doubt this will have been investigated by LE, but theres a small brown three man tent pitched in the bushes with clothes and some sleeping bags in it and it looks like its someone, probably more than one personthat has been sleeping rough recently and if so was they in the park on that night screams were heard? just wondering.
May I ask when you saw this? I know other members on here have been out to the park as well...perhaps one of them might be able to confirm your sighting or confirm that it was not there when they looked. Definitely interesting.

Anyone know what light sources are around that bench, if any, or would it be pitch black on a moonless night unless you had a phone/torch light?

That would imply quite a high degree of planning. My sense is that PR's actions were instinctive and ad hoc rather than pre-planned, but at this stage it's impossible to say for certain.

He’s been arrested for burglary, I’m sure he’ll turn off his location then surely? It takes seconds to do.
I’m also sure when he goes peeping on ladies, he turns off his phone also. My feeling is the Police already suspected him for flashing his todger previously, but couldn’t prove it.
If the person in the cctv did abduct LS and had only got out of his car the once, then yes, I could believe that it could be instinctive, twice I’m not so sure.

Not sure if this is ok to post but a colleague who uses the park said someone had been living there for a few weeks but it sounded as though it was a while ago.

Did anyone see inside the tent? Assuming this will have been seen by the police. Hopefully Libby didn't take refuge in there on that cold night and it's been missed.

Have they narrowed the time frame, or is it just that the CCTV clips fall within a narrower time frame?

No, police did not specifically said that they narrowed Libby's timeframe and yes CCTV clips fall within a narrower time frame of 1.13am and 2.34am.

But, big question is WHY this specific time frame? What is happening elsewhere or nearby at this specific time? Why not before 1am, as that time gap from 12.05 is still big unknown for all of us here, or why not after 2.34 am?

They must have some reasons why they are looking only between that time and at that location.

Thank you. At least that rules out her taking shelter in there and succumbing to the cold

Maybe there's just no one else on the CCTV footage between 12.10 and 01.10
I think they're just hoping that someone in the area can give them anything at all to go on because they have zero idea!

the thing is its a perfectly seviceable tent, dry inside so i cant see if someone was living there a while back why they would leave it behind, i bloody wouldnt if i was homeless

I don't know how relevant or not this is, but...

My son recently got his first phone, today is the first time he's been away with it (visiting grandma) and I've just checked on "find my friends" and can see they are on a walk through the village and that they stopped at the shop. It's literally tracking his every move, I'm amazed that it's so accurate!

Shows that phones CAN be tracked with pinpoint accuracy and I'm wondering if location history can be retrieved.

My daughter used to switch her mobile data off so I couldnt track her when she was going somewhere she shouldn't!

Used to drive me up wall so I made her watch a few crime documentaries and told her how fast someone could shove her in the boot of their car and now she wouldn't dare.

It was just how they said it. Along the lines of someone was living in there for a few weeks

I'm going to expand on my previous point again. How did the police link the girl seen on the corner of Beresford and Haworth with missing Libby....so soon? I assume her friends/housemates reported her missing between arriving home and the next morning. For police to have known and verified, very soon after the report, that she was seen on Beverley Road for a fleeting period of time - and then released this to the public - is astonishing. How did they know to look there at that time? At this point they hadn't spoken with Beardy man. Personally, I think they potentially had a call that they haven't revealed.[/QUOTE

Perhaps grey beard made a call at the time? They quickly linked the description of the girl with the friends description of Libby?

JMO - I don't think the police have a clue, and releasing CCTV appealing for witnesses nearly three weeks after Libby disappeared is ridiculous. Like I said yesterday, I'd have no idea where I was three weeks ago. They'll be lucky if any of those four people come forward.

ive just rang humberside police and they know all about the tent near the pond, would be a bit worrying if they didnt

I don't think they do either.
I dont think it's their fault or they've done anything wrong. I just don't think they have anything to go on.

I think though, knowing the news broke the next day, people will have made the connection then and presumably decided not to tell police as they hadn't seen or heard anything. So it will be in their minds.

I've no doubt there will be other people on that CCTV that already came forward, and so haven't been shown to the public.
