Libby's family thank 'incredible' support as dozens remember her

They came in their dozens to do all they could to help honour and remember Hull student Libby Squire.

Since the 21-year-old’s death was confirmed just over a week ago, people have flooded to the bench in Beverley Road where she was last seen to pay their respects.

Heart warming indeed, I’m so glad Libby’s family can feel the love for their daughter and themselves. Pat on the back to our locals and the people of Hull, you’ve outdone yourselves & should be very proud. Although I’m Cumbrian (with Yorkshire blood, Keighley to be precise!) it makes me very proud to be a Northern lass. We are a caring, strong & resilient breed :)

A new bench with adequate lighting would seem so appropriate in memory of Libby. I hope that would give her family particularly some ease in the very difficult times ahead for them.

Don't you have to dry the flowers to make pot pourri? Surely undried flowers will just rot in a sealed jar.

I'd go along with that inventory, yeah - cash/card, ID.

Most girls I know take a handbag out with them, and usually freshen up their makeup etc at some point during the night. If you were taking the bare minimum, ladies, would it be lip gloss?
Yes, I always take my vasaline, cash, phone and keys as minimum.

This day must be awful. I can't begin to imagine. And the poor family's nightmare is going to go on for a long time. Let's hope they get a guilty plea from whoever is responsible.
Yes agree.

I'm sure some unsavory things will come out in court that the family don't need to hear.

Am I the only one who finds it slightly ironic to remember Libby with a bench?

As I said before, they should set up a charity in her name for a cause she was passionate about.

But that's just my two cents.

Her parents have been consulted and from what I have read they like the idea of a bench and have suggested angels and roses to feature on her bench.

I also have read a charity is to be set up in her name.

I don't want to dismiss your two cents.

I'm imagining myself in her mother's position as much as I dare. I think I would like this. Yes I understand your view of the irony, but that bench has become a symbol of so many people's connection with Libby. I think I would feel an uplift from seeing it transformed from a place of darkness, to a bespoke-carved piece of artwork with lighting installed. There are many charities for many things, and making the bench project happen doesn't mean that a charity couldn't follow in the future. But for now I think a transformation of the poignant bench area would be a very personal tribute to her

Maybe they could put her charity details on the bench I think that would work.

I love the idea of the bench.
there are so many charities already.
I know there are a few posters who have donated to the RNLI who helped in the searches .

I thought they'd to be dried first. My mum used to make pot pourri.

This gives me confidence that enough forensic evidence will be collected to be able to charge someone for murder.

.I was so amazed that her expertise could determine the almost exact time and location of when a body entered the water. .Please let her be involved with Libbys case.
