You'd imagine that the crucifix, if he didn't have it previously, was from an older relative who had visited.

It’s all very bizarre.

How frustrating. I can't imagine how poor Libbys family and friends must feel.

I wonder if I'm so attached to this case as I live local and have a daughter the same age - but I have never before felt emotion like this for someone I didn't know.

We all just want justice for Libby, I pray that it is coming.

Possibly, or the prisons visiting priest.

As it hasn't been mentioned before and was clearly obvious at this hearing my personal opinion is it was a cynical attempt to look truly remorseful. Possibly, if he's still a believing Catholic, also worn in hope of divine protection as well.

At the only court case I've ever attended (carer who stole life savings of an elderly relative) the defence summing up mentioned variations of remorse 23 times.

In his situation I'd be going for remorseful symbols as well.

Me neither. In my case it's having a child the same age at the University. I can't imagine the suffering if her loved ones and friends. I so want them to get justice for her.

I wonder, with the last-minute guilty plea, if he's been gambling on having served enough time on remand to be able to walk out and disappear?
Think he'll be disappointed if so.

What sort of sentence do you think, iyo, he’s looking at?

Is halting/adjoining at this point usual? I don’t recall a case like this.

Well if he gets 12 months he's a free man. Thats a scary prospect.

As far as I can ascertain from Google the maximum sentence for both Voyeurism and exposure seems to be 2 years. It also says the offence range is from fine to 18 months whatever that means

For the 2 years it looks like a lot of criteria have to be satisfied which I think his defence would say are absent given no reference to him being a suspect for Libby's disappearance would be allowed

Voyeurism

Exposure

Just checking in and catch up. Or not, as the case may be. Will we never hear a thing about this?

If you look further down the links, it reads as 2 years is the maximum that can be served for offences that have resulted in sentences to be served consecutively. Otherwise it's a fine, community order or up to 18 months custody.

What about the burglaries though?

I think there’re tiers too, aren’t there? Low level non aggravated in this case, I’d say.
Unless there’s quite a lot of weight from the victim impact statements I can’t see him ordinarily getting much time, more likely a suspended sentence

Anyway know anything about presenting a risk to society?

If the police were expecting a two week trial could the halt be to prepare paperwork now PR is a convicted sex offender

  • #497
I've only skim read this, but it looks to me as though he could be given consecutive sentences because there are different types of crime, ie theft/burglary is completely different from the sexual crimes, and committed on different occasions.

I was reading this the other day.

Psychological Phases - Criminal Minds Wiki

Be interested to know from friends/work companions if he fit anything from stage 1) Aura.
He could have had an opportunist phase 2 then.
Although, I think I’m alone in not being completely convinced he was involved in her death.

No, you aren't. There's no evidence of that as far as I am aware. I won't condemn anybody based on assumptions.

Non of us have any idea what, if any, evidence there is. One thing Humberside Police have done amazingly well is avoided any leaks of info regarding the case. What we have is made up of the very few facts we do know.

I think a lot of us were hoping for more from the trial, in terms of outlining his background and routines a little more if nothing else. That said, non of it would tell us if he was involved with harming Libby anyway. I cant bare not having an answer, a conclusion. Then again think how destroying that must be for her family.
