He remained under investigation for the first offence. - this is my point!
Indeed, and given that he has since stood trial for other offences, I'm surprised his solicitor didn't push for that case to be closed.

As you say he can remain under investigation indefinitely unless the case is closed. Thanks for the clarification regarding LE having full power to requestion people under investigation. I wasn't aware that was the case

As it currently stands he is in prison serving an 8.5 year sentence for sexual offences. These charges came after he was arrested on suspicion of abduction.

He was arrested and released under investigation for Libby's abduction in February. That case hasn't been closed. He remains under investigation.

After he was sentenced he was then arrested on suspicion of murder, held for 24 hours and been released under investigation.

No cases against him have been closed.

Initially arrested on suspicion of abducting her. Kept for the maximum allowable time which is difficult to get.

Difficult to remember time frames but police went from saying abduction to saying kidnapping at one point. And from saying missing person enquiry to saying they feared she'd come to harm. I'm not really clear on the distinction between abduction and kidnapping.

Then to homicide to murder.

I won't go into all the 'persuasion, deception, force' bits.

Basically, abduction is the intent to remove someone from their home or a family relationship, which is why you so often see the phrase 'child abduction', eg where a divorced parent will take a child abroad. Kidnapping is taking someone against their will and holding them without their consent, usually for a motive such as ransom or political gain.

Also, for kidnap someone has to be actually taken away, whereas false imprisonment is detaining someone, eg you could falsely imprison someone in their own home, but you haven't take them anywhere.

Thank you. An interesting distinction.

Was it suspicion of murder or suspicion of abduction or abduction? Difficult to remember all the charges once the other stuff came up.

Per my notes:

Pawel Relowicz (24) arrested (2/6/19 on suspicion of abduction)

T"investigation is continuing with a file being prepared for the Crown Prosecution Service as results of the additional analysis are being finalised."

They said the above again in their statement regarding the release of Libby's body. Charges must be coming soon, you'd think.

Charges imminent surely...

The family will finally be able to lay her to rest and say goodbye. Its heartbreaking and relieving at the same time, i hope it can bring them some small comfort.

I'm so glad that poor Libby is finally going to be released to her family so they can at least maybe able to start the grieving process once they have laid their beautiful girl to rest <3

However, this latest update throws a spanner in the works of my theory I've been spouting for the past few weeks. I can live with that tho. But I can't deal with the thought of PR never being brought to trial. Praying charges are imminent.

Libby you will always be remembered as Hulls beautiful angel, taken far too soon <3

I’m pleased that Libby’s family will finally be able to lay her to rest and my thoughts are with them.
What does this mean though about the chance of charges against PR? My thinking as to why they were keeping her body for so long apart from the tests they were doing was in case they charged him and his defence wanted a second post-mortem.

That's exactly what I had been thinking so this news has felt odd for me personally, I feel a dread that maybe this means he is not going to be charged anytime soon, if ever, but of course above all that I feel relief for Libbys family as they can finally lay her to rest.

Yes but come on!! They must have enough evidence to have some chance of a conviction? Really??

@Niner
Please would you use the UK date format in UK threads, otherwise there will be confusion.
Pawel Relowicz was arrested on 6/2/19 = 6 February.
