I'm not sure if I'm aloud to give newspaper names or not but there are 2 papers following it minute by minute and posting updates. One yesterday was on about the botonist. How they could tell the difference between the soils and plants found at the place she was buried. That's how they new she was killed somewhere else. Also how long she had been there ect. It is very interesting to read this side of it.

The papers to follow are the Lancashire telegraph and lancs live. If u go between the 2 u get the updates, one is more detailed than the other.

Ah, yes I did notice that.

Yesterday I think The Telegraph either omitted or later redacted some details about how the body was discovered (the squishy and flies bit).

It's interesting how the addiction or omission of a just a word can make it appear more, or less gruesome/gross.

"Stood on something soft,"

As opposed to

"Stood on something soft and squishy."

Then add the part about 'horrible rotten smell' and 'flies on it'. Eeuurrrgghhh!

Agree re the Lancs Telegraph. Sometimes offering a different line or two - I noticed it yesterday with the evidence of Lindsay's daughter and the visits to the house on August 12.

'Bloodied tissue'
The jury are now hearing a statement from Christine Alderson who visited Accrington Cemetery on Sunday, August 18, 2019.

She was walking her dogs with her daughter.

Ms Alderson said she walked by some trees and saw a ‘tissue with blood’ on the grass and a ‘trampled area like someone had walked through’.

Blood was 'fresh and red'
Christine Alderson said the blood on the tissue was ‘fresh and red’ and about ‘four or five inches wide’.

The jury heard that she thought it might have belonged to a tramp in the area

Ms Alderson also described seeing a ‘flattened area like something had been laid on the ground’.

She said it was ‘totally straight and the same distance apart’ and ‘could be like pulling a wheelie bin through undergrowth’.

With all the witness statements this morning re the wheelie bin, it just seems like he didn't give a whit how out of place he looked. Even without a body, it wouldn't have taken LE much time at all to connect the dots with this lad IMO.

Off-road biker finds wheelie bin at cemetery
The jury are now being read a statement from Daniel Westell who joined in the search for Lindsay Birbeck using his off road bike.

He said he noticed the blue wheelie bin at the cemetery at around 8pm on Monday, August 19, 2019.

He opened the lid and it was clean inside.

If this other person does exist, and he was asked to move a body, why do police still not know where this Crome scene is!!! Does he not know where he moved it from either! Moo

Exactly. I must admit I have never studied law, but I would have thought (and hope) that being 'deliberately vague' can't count in your favour as a defence.

In this case surely you would have to say exactly where you met 'the hooded man' (I presume the defence mean 'somewhere in the Coppice').
And then exactly how he 'showed you where the body was' etc

And also since it's been several months. Surely the 'hooded man's' possible movements have been checked out during that time. Possible entry and exit points to the Coppice, on CCTV, witnesses etc.
The death has pretty much been nailed down to a time between 4.06pm and around around 4.45pm on the specific day (according to the CCTV and phone evidence). So the investigators have a reasonably narrow time frame to focus on.

Police dog handler sent to cemetery to search for Lindsay Birbeck
Another statement has been read to the jury from police dog handler PC John Cuthbertson.

He was sent to Accrington Cemetery at 9.30am on August 20, 2019 and found a blue council wheelie bin underneath a section of trees.

The jury were told that when he ‘opened the lid and peered inside it was completely empty and relatively clean’.

Only problem is with the coppice is it's huge! U can actually get to the coppice off the motorway on foot. But it's a good walk away. If the unknown man wanted to stay hidden I guess he could...that's if he even exists.!? Moo

I don't think Lindsay's body was in the place she was killed long enough to find forensics...from what I gather is the lads put her in the bin within hours of her being killed...then days later moved the bin? Might be wrong because of all the info being posted.

As for the change in some of the stuff coming out of court...I agree they don't always have a good choice of words when describing what happend. Squishy and horrible smell and flies..not nice!

Moo

Bin was six metres away from where Lindsay was found
PC Cuthbertson said he returned to the site after Lindsay’s body was found.

He said her grave was ‘about 6m’ away from where then bin was positioned.

The jury were told that he searched that area ‘without a trace’.

Yes

Has anyone any thoughts as to why the jacket was on the fence?
It was August. I've no idea what the weather was like that day but I'm surprised she was wearing one to be honest. Maybe she took it off after warming up with her walk? I can't think why he would have put it on the fence, perhaps as a marker of where he had hidden her to go back to later. Was she dead already at the time the lady spotted it?

So - I see they do not actually call witnesses, but have the pros or detective read their statements. Weird? Does the Defense get to question the statements?

more to the point......there is a murderer still out there somewhere which the police have stopped looking for!!!

so no.....theres no mysterious hooded man.

But according to the defence the killer IS 'The Mysterious Hooded Man' - unless of course he's all just part of the defence solicitor's fable.

I did think maybe she had tied it around her waist and it had fallen off? I hike and walk a lot and quite regularly see jackets/waterproof trousers etc left on fences after they've been left behind by people - will make me think twice when I see it next time though!

It will be interesting to find out who's blood that is. Defendant, Lindsay, mystery man or unrelated. I wonder if the defendant had any injuries?
