I agree it will be shocking if it turns out that Lindsay has been in the cemetery all this time. So where else can she have been the last two weeks?

Just briefly scanned the thread, did a poster say there were houses close to the cemetery ?
I live close to a very large cemetery & a housing estate literally backs on to it. The graves are within touching distance of their garden fences.

Is that the case here ? Was Lindsay Possibly kept in a garage close by with easy’ish access (railway line?)

Yes, the cemetery is very close to housing estates.

"At this stage we do not know how Lindsay’s body came to be in the cemetery, or how long it has been there so I would also like to speak to anyone who has seen anything suspicious in or around the cemetery area after August 12th or anyone who has any drone footage or dashcam footage which could assist."

Updates: Police believe they have found body of Lindsay Birbeck

OK, so basically LE has the same questions we do. How did Lindsay's body get to the cemetery and how long has it been there?

Anyone have a pet theory they'd like to share?
Speculation from me. She was harmed inside a house of someone she knew. Kept there. The perp starts to panic either about a knock coming on the door or because the heatwave arrived (wont elaborate). Decides Lindsay must be moved. Makes use of the bath (did he have tools or need tools? Either could be illuminating). Takes her somewhere nearby (no vehicle?) And hopes for the best, to no avail. So I would guess lives alone, unless its another bizarre coupling as with Becky Watts. All entirely my theorising.

ETA sorry this sounds so cold, its horrific to even think of anything like it

Don't be sorry. My mind is going similar places. If one assumes Lindsay's body has not been in the cemetery for two weeks all possible scenarios are horrible.

Regarding who could have done this:

1. Lindsay has an ex-husband. Upstream, someone mentioned that he seems genuinely concerned. Was it an amiable divorce? Was she on reasonably good terms with him?

2. Was she seeing someone else? If so, had she wanted to break off the relationship, and suggested meeting in the woods? Did things go downhill from there?

3. Have there been homeless people in the woods or the park where she was walking? Transients can be very aggressive (as most of us know), and I wondered if they overpowered her and caused her harm.

4. Did someone have a grudge against her? Possibly someone she worked with?

Just tossing out possibilities.

ADMIN NOTE:

Do NOT post rumors on Websleuths. It is a violation of TOS and your post will be removed.

Unfortunately when someone posts a rumor, ALL responses and responses to responses get removed. This time alone, 43 posts discussing rumor have had to be removed.

ETA: Someone commented earlier that enforcement of the rumor rule is "inconsistent". WS has hundreds of active thread. Mods and Admin cannot and do not sit in each and every thread reading posts in real time 24/7. It is an impossibility. We rely on members to use the Report feature to let us know if there is a rumor (or other TOS violation). Simply put ... if it doesn't get Reported, we don't know about it.

Discussing moderation on the thread can result in an automatic Time Out.
If you have a question about The Rules or moderation, contact a Mod / Admin via private messaging rather than complaining about it on the thread.

We've been asked to clarify about Facebook rules. Those rules are spelled out in the section titled "Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, etc" of TOS (aka The Rules, linked in my signature). All members are required to familiarize themselves with those rules and post in accordance with them.

The only social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc) that is allowed to be brought to Websleuths is from:

- MSM (i.e. an account belonging to an MSM site/reporter/journalist)
- Law Enforcement (i.e. official site of a police department)
- an official Missing Person account (where ONLY posts by an Admin of that group are allowed to be brought here for discussion)

The above social media accounts can be verified whereas comments by the general public cannot be. As anybody can project themselves as anyone on the internet, we cannot verify the source or identity of comments made by the general public. As a result, comments by the general public underneath any of the above are considered rumor and cannot be brought here or discussed.

You may link to the social media of either a victim or a POI/suspect and you may discuss what they have said on their own social media account. You may NOT discuss comments made by any other individual on their page, and you may not sleuth or discuss comments made by those other individuals.

If further clarification is required, please private message a Mod or Admin rather than discuss it on the thread.

Thanks.

Worth noting it is to be supervised for safety reasons.

Yes at first I thought it was because of the worry about Chinese lanterns, but then I realised it because there is a murderer in the area and as of yet they don’t know who it is.

While it's a lovely idea to have a Remembrance Walk for Lindsay, isn't it a little bit too soon? After all, there has been no official cause of death stated yet and no funeral has taken place.

I'm wondering if this is a ruse by the police? Maybe they have a suspect in mind and are waiting for them to turn up at this walk on Thursday? I would imagine they will be monitoring very closely who turns up for this walk.

Who is the admin of this particular Facebook?
I think there were a few different admins

totally agree, there were 104 members of the public at the police Qand A last Wednesday I’d put money on them having filmed who went to that maybe they’re trying to see who is repeatedly going to these kind of events who would also fit the profile they must be building up?

Police say a post-mortem examination has been conducted and shows that Lindsay died as a result of compression of the neck.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: "We are aware of rumours circulating on social media about what may have happened to Lindsay and for the family’s sake we once again would urge people not to speculate as this is causing her loved ones significant additional distress at what is clearly an extremely difficult time for them."

[...]

A large team of detectives, uniformed officers and staff are working on the enquiry to establish what happened to Lindsay after she went missing and to identify who was responsible for her death. No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detectives are carrying out a review of CCTV, doing house to house enquiries and trying to piece together Lindsay’s movements since she was captured on CCTV on Burnley Road at just after 4pm on Monday, August 12th.
