This is new? First I recall of hearing of “problems in the foster family”

Foster families don't all come with Halos, as the Turpin children will attest to :(

Evidence of Cole's friend: 'Logan made to stand facing the wall for 30 minutes'

The judge now turns to witness Callum Williams, a friend of Cole. She reminds jurors about his evidence of how Cole and Williamson would discipline Logan. The witness said: “They would try and talk to him to figure out what was going on and if that didn’t work they would make him stand towards the wall on the stairs towards the bannister for 30 minutes at a time.”

The witness also said he had stayed with the family for a takeaway on one occasion, and Logan had not been allowed to have any of the food because he had “misbehaved”.

People generally do not make enough use of landscape mode on phones. Especially with photos and videos.

Neighbour's evidence: 'Arguments and swearing from the flat'

The judge reminds the jury about the evidence of Fred Witchell, a neighbour who lived in the next block of flats to the flats where Logan, Cole and Williamson lived. This witness told the court that he would hear arguments and swearing coming from the flat where the defendants lived.

Timeline in jury bundles

The judge is now taking the jurors through the detailed series of timelines they have in their bundle of documents covering the days before Logan died which detail movements of the defendants caught on CCTV, and phone and video calls made. She reminds the jurors that there are some areas of dispute between prosecution and defence barristers about the interpretation of what is shown in some of the CCTV clips.

Other neighbour: 'Heard raised voices and arguments'

The judge now reminds the jury about the evidence is Lloyd Evans who lived in a flat next to Williamson, Cole, and Logan. He told the court he did not have much to do with the family living next door, and did not have any major problems with them. He said he would hear raised voices and arguments coming from next door but could not tell what was being said. The court heard that on July 29. Evans had texted another neighbour in the block, Jamie Gibson, to say that Cole - who he referred to as "baldy" - was "going bananas" during an argument.

Of course and I’m not suggesting that they should. However, the reporting so far very much gave the impression of a social worker ignoring problems and making questionable decisions. This gives a bit of a different perspective.

  • #555
The social worker has a vested interest in casting aspersions on the foster family to cover for why she acted as she did on what they said.

Absolutely! I hope some retraining was conducted too.

CCTV

The judge now takes jurors through CCTV evidence from the early hours of July 31 - around the time Logan died - showing, it is accepted, Cole carrying Logan’s body from the house, followed by the youth. She tells them it is a matter for them how closely they think the youth was following Cole, and whether the youth must have known what he was carrying and why.

The judge also takes the jury through evidence detailing the times the light in Logan’s bedroom went on and off, the movements of the curtains in his room, and activity on Williamson’s phone around the same time. She said the prosecution assert this evidence - in particular the phone activity - shows Williamson was awake at this time, and not asleep as the defendant claims. She says it is the prosecution case that jurors can draw "important inferences" about what was going on in the house, while the defence say such inferences cannot be drawn as - for example - Williamson’s phone could have been being used by Cole and somebody else could have opened or closed the curtains.

So, for today the Jury's task will only be to elect a leader/chairman I guess.
And maybe a quick voting to find out what are the Jurors' opinions concerning the guilt of each defendant.
A kind of organizational stuff.

What time are they supposed to finish today?
