Kyle Bevan, 31, denies murdering the toddler - and says Lola died when she was knocked down the stairs by the family’s American Bulldog Jessie. He is on trial at Swansea Crown Court alongside Lola’s mum Sinead James who stands accused of “causing or allowing” her daughter’s death. She denies the charge.

On day four of the case, jurors heard evidence from Elfair Morgan who is the grandmother of James’ close friend Casey. Mrs Morgan said she had seen Lola on July 9, 2020 - just eight days before paramedics arrived at the child’s home in Haverfordwest and found the toddler unconscious and gravely ill. She said she was in the kitchen of her granddaughter’s house when James asked her to look at Lola’s nose as she was worried it was broken.
The court has previously heard evidence from Mrs Morgan’s granddaughter Casey. She had been asked by prosecuting counsel Caroline Rees KC about marks on Lola’s nose.

A man has been found guilty of murdering his partner's two-year-old daughter.

Kyle Bevan, 31, of Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, subjected Lola James to a "brutal" assault while he was alone with her in July 2020.

Lola's mother Sinead James, 30, of Neyland, Pembrokeshire, was also found guilty of causing or allowing her death.

Bevan and James will be sentenced on Tuesday 25 April.

Murder arrests after child killer Kyle Bevan found dead at HMP Wakefield

Kyle Bevan, 33, was found dead at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire on Wednesday, prompting a police inquiry.

Three inmates have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a child killer was found dead at a West Yorkshire prison.

Officers were called to HMP Wakefield at 08:25 GMT on Wednesday following reports of a man being found dead in his cell, West Yorkshire Police said.

The Prison Service confirmed the man was 33-year-old Kyle Bevan, who was jailed for life for murdering his partner's two-year-old daughter Lola James in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, in 2020.

The force said his death at the high-security jail was being treated as "suspicious", with investigations continuing to establish the full circumstances of his death.
"Three men, who are all serving prisoners, have been arrested on suspicion of murder," a spokesperson said.
