There must be something mildly trendy about the VOC logo because it’s on Redbubble. "Dutch East India Company Logo" Sticker by PZAndrews | Redbubble
Also, the Dutch link makes me think South African as a possibility.I looked in the Dutch and Australian missing persons websites and didn’t see anyone obvious, but somebody else might be more thorough.
Bliming heck! This poor fella is a tattoo conundrumRSBM. After googling, apparently the crossed flintlock pistols are insignia of the US Military Police Corps.

Same here, I only pick it up if they say a word that rhymes with "out".Isn't he just?
I wonder how they confirmed his accent was Canadian? I hope I don't offend anyone here, but most Canadian accents I've encountered I'd just put down to North America in general unless it was something really distinctive like a Newfoundland accent.
ETA: obviously if it was a fellow Canadian, or someone who has spent time in Canada who identified it I could understand.
Spoke to my youngest who has been living in the UK, and told about the uid male and the Canadian connection and the first thing they said was how do they know he is Canadian, everyone here assumes she is speaking with an American accent.Isn't he just?

I'm a Brit and I couldn't tell you if an accent was American or Canadian. I don't think I'd be able to tell Australian and New Zealand accents apart either.I'm Australian and can definitely tell a Canadian accent...however lots of people mix up Australia/New Zealand and also South Africa. Not sure how good the British people are at discriminating between us all. Canada is a bit more subtle, and a lot of US people do fake being Canadian
He has a similar'' look.''imo.Putting this here for what it is worth. I think the hairline is wrong and it says nothing about tattoos, but the dates are right. Services | SAPS (South African Police Service)

Hmmm...I just Googled "Lana Del Rey tattoo" and found this blog published by someone whose tattoo appears to be the same one (of her face with sunglasses and the "Bad" ring); it also looks to me like it's on the person's forearm, as as John Doe's:Lana Del Rey Tattoo: Lana Del Rey tattoo
So even though there's only one post on this person's blog, maybe the name of it--"SkylerHolliday.blogspot.com"--is actually the poster's name (Skyler Holliday). Maybe more Googling will help determine if the person who posted this pic on their blog is the same person whose body was found.
