I'm sure we already had a thread for this guy, though there wasn't as much information on it and I can't seem to find it now - all these new details are certainly interesting. I speculated that he might have been a rough sleeper because otherwise I'm not sure how they'd have all this information on him. Rough sleepers tend to get to know each other, give each other nicknames, talk about where they're from, etc. Unless someone knew him, how would they know his alias or that he's Canadian? Most Brits can't really tell a US accent from a Canadian one.

I hope he gets identified soon. I can't imagine having a loved one vanish abroad, so many thousands of miles away.

I looked in the Dutch and Australian missing persons websites and didn’t see anyone obvious, but somebody else might be more thorough.

I wonder if he could be Kiwi? The VOC connection, but also his alias is v Scottish which I'd associate more with NZ. Thought maybe the sun and two lines could be a Maori design but havent found anything helpful

Also, the Dutch link makes me think South African as a possibility.

    Left Forearm, Crossed revolvers

RSBM. After googling, apparently the crossed flintlock pistols are insignia of the US Military Police Corps.

Bliming heck! This poor fella is a tattoo conundrum
Isn't he just?

I wonder how they confirmed his accent was Canadian? I hope I don't offend anyone here, but most Canadian accents I've encountered I'd just put down to North America in general unless it was something really distinctive like a Newfoundland accent.

ETA: obviously if it was a fellow Canadian, or someone who has spent time in Canada who identified it I could understand.

Same here, I only pick it up if they say a word that rhymes with "out".

The photo. Does it look like someone possibly unclothed between train seats? Just thinking, maybe they had cctv and someone analysed his voice but Mr HKP tells me it doesnt always have sound (due to the amount of noise in the carriage).

Spoke to my youngest who has been living in the UK, and told about the uid male and the Canadian connection and the first thing they said was how do they know he is Canadian, everyone here assumes she is speaking with an American accent.

In the back of my mind I have an idea that i've heard of the East India Trading Company/VOC symbol being associated with the branding of Slaves. Can't for the life of me remember where I heard it though.

I’m from the US and couldn’t identify a Canadian accent for sure. I don’t know that most British people would either. It’s very subtle.

I'm Australian and can definitely tell a Canadian accent...however lots of people mix up Australia/New Zealand and also South Africa. Not sure how good the British people are at discriminating between us all. Canada is a bit more subtle, and a lot of US people do fake being Canadian

Isn't VOC based out of London? Could it be a recent employer? I could be wrong on this...going to check anyway on maybe Linked In

I'm a Brit and I couldn't tell you if an accent was American or Canadian. I don't think I'd be able to tell Australian and New Zealand accents apart either.

Hmmm...I just Googled "Lana Del Rey tattoo" and found this blog published by someone whose tattoo appears to be the same one (of her face with sunglasses and the "Bad" ring); it also looks to me like it's on the person's forearm, as as John Doe's:Lana Del Rey Tattoo: Lana Del Rey tattoo

So even though there's only one post on this person's blog, maybe the name of it--"SkylerHolliday.blogspot.com"--is actually the poster's name (Skyler Holliday). Maybe more Googling will help determine if the person who posted this pic on their blog is the same person whose body was found.

that's a woman's leg
