Thanks LucyRocket. Just wondering about if there was court today. I wonder how much longer the trial will last?

I wouldn't have thought much longer. The defence surely can't have many witnesses, and Mangori has already finished

'Mr Justice Garnham brings proceedings to a close for the day. Trial resumes Monday 2pm'

Not much gleaned from the defence's lawyer today.

Thank you Mr Paul Greaves for letting us know that the day's proceedings have ended, and about the late start on Monday :D

My original post got mangled.

I'm not buying that he mistook poor Lorraine for tobacco. He needs to be locked up and the key chucked away. Imagine bumping into him on a dark night. Shiver. Moo.
I keep wondering what would have happened to one of the escorts he tried to contact that fateful night too. Did they have a lucky escape by not meeting up with him?

Its really quite baffling as to why he decided to take the stand. Im guessing it was against his team wishes.

From the way he tries to portray himself, I bet he thought that the jury would be dumb enough to believe his absurd
explanations. The opposite has happened though as he does not sound convincing at all.

Logic states that he should not have taken the stand, and let his team put over the story that he was just a misunderstood boy, who did not understand other types of customs.

He was too arrogant and cocky for that though and I hope justice comes down on him hard.

I beleive that he is a deranged fantasist and Lorraine died at his hands..

'Ludicrous
"Do you believe a word about his mistaking the body for tobacco?" - Mr Laws. Mangori has given evidence that when disposing of the body he regarded it as tobacco, such was his state of mind.

"It's ludicrous. We can't prove it is not true but then again we can't prove there aren't fairies at the bottom of the garden. This story from start to finish is nothing but ludicrous." - Mr Laws.'

Nice one!

Every other murder trial I have followed, I've been thankful that I'm not on the jury. I don't envy that task. There's usually some doubt in my mind, and/or I can make some connection with the accused. This time, uhuhhh, I feel like it's the biggest waste of public funding ever. I'd know before I stepped out of the court room he's guilty. I don't think they'll take long to return with a verdict

I'm getting very confused now. AM has admitted to dismembering poor Lorraine and unlawfully 'disposing' of her. Is there a separate charge for this. Has he been found guilty already for this?
Minor point, but has he also been charged with storing up to £40k worth of illegal tobacco?
His asylum request was refused, so is there also a charge for this?
ALSO, since Lorraine was very drunk, does their sexual encounter (the one AM recorded) count as rape, as L could not of given proper consent for this? I believe the law has changed recently over consent to sex if one party was drunk.

From what the defence lawyer said, it sounds like he has already pleaded guilty to dismemberment. So he will be sentenced for that, without a trial, once this trial is concluded.

There's no mention of charges for the tobacco or immigration status, so either there aren't any, or again he's pleaded guilty to charges related to those. I think it's usual that he would serve any prison sentence here, and then be deported.

There isn't a rape charge, but I believe maybe he was also fairly drunk, which could be why they didn't charge with rape.

I got a feeling the verdict will be announced tomorrow. Generally verdicts do not come back too quickly. Quick verdicts leaves scope for an appeal on the grounds that the jury did not look at all evidence closely enough.

IMO everything he did points to covering up a murder and I hope the jury does the right thing.

I didn't think the jury would go out so late
