Second mention of Mansel Park. I wonder if he's thought this up since he's been in custody to divert from knowing then about the real scene of the crime, or if he said it to anyone at the time.

Nicholson said he later had a phone call with Mr Elmes, after the confirmation that the body found was Lucy's, he said Mr Elmes was crying.

Nicholson said he had heard that police wanted to speak to him.

Nicholson adds that he was concerned that police would find out about his drug dealing. As a result, he said that he swapped out his sim card from his phone and put it into a old phone belonging to his sister.

Doctor Purdue tells the court Lucy was likely to have been immobile when the injuries were inflicted but said some of the wounds to her forearm were indicative of defensive wounds.

Asked what concerned him about the information on the phone. He said: "I get cannabis from a variety of different people, some not very nice people who have been known to go after people's families."

He said he left the phone on the mantlepiece at his mother's address. He confirms he told his mother to throw the phone in the bin if the police came round.

Asked why he did not throw it away himself, Nicholson said it was "a £900 phone" which had contacts and personal photographs on it.

Asked why he changed his Facebook password. He said he was trying to access his Facebook account on the new phone, but could not remember his password, so he sent a request to reset his password.

Mr Newton-Price is going through a variety of phone calls Nicholson made and received after Lucy's body was found.

He is asked about a phone call with a former partner. The partner claimed Nicholson had told her that Lucy had been stabbed and her body burnt. Nicholson is asked if he said that. He replies: "No, not at all."

Nicholson is now asked why he did not give his password to police, after he was arrested by police at Totton rail station. He replies: "Because of my drug dealing."

He is asked why police did not find drug related messages on his phone. Nicholson said he deleted them when he switched his phone.

He asks: "Did you ever have a sexual relationship with Lucy McHugh?"

Mr Nicholson replies: "No."

He asks: "Did you kill Lucy McHugh?"

Mr Nicholson replies: "No."

Mr Newton-Price tells the court he has now finished his questioning of the witness.

Prosecutor William Mousley QC will now be given the opportunity to cross-examine Nicholson.

The decision is made to adjourn the trial tonight and allow Mr Mousley to begin his cross-examination in the morning.
