HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a “caring, kind and loving” mum after a body was found in a park.

Madison Wright, 30, from Pitsea, was last seen on July 22 sparking an urgent appeal from police, before a body was found in Wat Tyler Park on Saturday as part of a major search.

Both the park and the nearby Pitsea Recycling Centre were closed throughout the weekend and yesterday as police invested the scene.

Essex Police says the formal identification process is yet to take place but Madison’s family have been informed of the development and continue to be supported by specialist detectives.

The discovery of the body has sparked an outpouring of emotion from friends, MPs and councillors who were left shocked and heartbroken by the announcement.

David Dadds, Tory councillor for Billericay East, said he knew Madison Wright since she was a child.

He posted on Twitter: “I am saddened and devastated to hear of the news about Madison.

“I have known Madison since she was a child.

“She was a caring, kind and gentle person and a loving mother.

Madison leaves a void that’s cannot ever be filled. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.”

Amy Mellor, 32, from Clacton, went to Thurrock College with Madison and was left heartbroken by her death.

She said: “She was such a lovely caring friend. I know her for a few years loving and caring she would always help anyone she was a good friend to many.

“I felt in shock, when I found out she was missing and a body has been found. I still feel so sad heartbroken to be honest.”

Another college friend, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I knew Madison from Thurrock Tech went to college together she was a lovely girl - very polite and caring, would talk to you.

“When I found out on Facebook I was shocked to think it was Madison. She was taken to soon.

“When I saw online that she was missing and a body has been found.

I was shocked and upset, she was just such a lovely girl.”

Politicians also joined in, offering kind word and tributes.

Stephen Metcalfe, Tory MP for South Basildon and East Thurrock posted on Twitter: “My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Madison Wright.

Devastating news - my sincere condolences. Glad Essex Police have acted so diligently and charged someone.”

On the Echo Facebook page, Lisa Sherwood posted: “How cruel. She wasn’t only a partner, someone’s child, she was a mother.

“My thoughts are with her family. Well done Essex Police for your hard work in this awful case.”

Tributes left outside the entrance to Wat Tyler Country Park for Madison Wright after the perk reopened on August 5

Tributes and flowers have been laid at the scene where a body was found, in the search for missing mum Madison Wright. Wat Tyler Country Park finally reopened in Pitsea today, (Friday August 5) six days after the grim discovery.

Madison, 30, from Basildon, has not been seen since July 22, but police believe she has been murdered. Formal identification of the body discovered in the park in Pitsea Hall Lane has not taken place but Madison's family has been informed and a man has appeared in court, charged with her murder.

Following the discovery the park was completely blocked off, from the afternoon of July 30, while forensic teams swarmed the parking area, just within the main entrance gates. The entire green space - plus the neighbouring Pitsea Recycling Centre - remained closed until today.

Despite the park now being open again, the gravel parking area within the gates remains cordoned off, with forensic teams still working and police officers guarding the area. A portion of the land has been completely screened off from public view by metal barriers.

Just outside Wat Tyler Country Park, some flowers and messages have been laid for Madison, including the message "RIP Madison, rest in peace". It is not yet known how long police will be working in the park for and when it will be fully reopened to the public.

Two more arrests have been made as detectives continue to investigate the murder of Madison Wright in #Pitsea.

Madison, 30 has not been seen since 22 July and her disappearance prompted a large-scale murder investigation, led by Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

DI Kevin Hughes, who is leading the investigation, said: “This morning, a warrant was executed at a residential address in Basildon, and we arrested two men on suspicion of assisting an offender.

"We will continue to investigate with strong momentum and we remain committed to securing justice for Madison and her family.”

The family of Madison Wright have paid tribute to a “happy, gentle, thoughtful and kind person”.

Madison, 30 from Basildon was reported missing on 22 July. A murder investigation was swiftly launched, which remains ongoing.

Today, her family have paid tribute to her:

“Madison was the most loving mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend and soon to be aunt.

“Throughout her life Madison was a happy, gentle, thoughtful and kind person. She was never a fan of being the centre of attention and definitely would not have liked this.

“Our family has suffered a loss that is unimaginable and irreparable, and the void Madison leaves will never be filled. Her life has been stolen from not just her but from all of us. Her memory however will live on through her son whom we cherish dearly.

“We will remember every smile, laugh and every moment we had the honour to share. We will miss you for the rest of our lives Mad. The love we have for you is beyond words and you will forever be in our hearts.

“Rest in peace Mad, until we meet again.”

Investigating Officers are continuing to investigate to determine the circumstances around Madison’s death, with multiple arrests being made so far.

Enquiries as part of one Essex Police’s largest investigations this year are continuing, with specialist officers pursuing lines of enquiry today in Basildon.

A murder investigation was launched on 28 July following the disappearance of 30-year-old woman Madison Wright in Pitsea. Madison’s body was sadly located at Wat Tyler Park on 30 July following a large-scale search by specialist officers.

At this stage of the investigation, one man has been charged with murder and a further four people who were arrested have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

This morning, specially trained officers from Essex and Kent Serious Crime Directorate have been carrying out searches in the Pitsea area, in attempts to locate a mobile phone belonging to Madison Wright.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Kevin Hughes said:

“Our investigation does not stop at the point of charge and we have continued to complete lines of enquiry to help us understand what happened to Madison and when she died.

"The team and I remain steadfast in our pursuit for justice, and at this time of year especially, our thoughts & prayers are with Madison’s family, who this year, will be spending their first Christmas without her.

“A key and ongoing line of enquiry, is our efforts to find and recover Madison’s phone. Up until a recent development this was looking doubtful, but we now have information that suggests Madison’s phone was briefly switched on in September and one scenario we are looking to explore, is the potential a member of the public has found the phone.

"This phone still has evidential value to our investigation, but as equally important, are the sentimental photos and videos which may still be recoverable from the device. Given the emotive implications, we would really like to be able to reunite these significant mementos with Madison’s family and if someone has found the phone we need to speak with that person as part of our enquiries. The phone in question was a Google Pixel 4a, similar to the image depicted and may have been in a black case.

“Any information about this mobile phone or further information about Madison’s death, may help us get the answers that Madison’s family deserve.”
