Police are becoming "increasingly concerned" for a missing man who was last seen on his boat in Oxford.

The last sighting of Marc Wilson, 49 was on Saturday, January 8 at about 1.15pm.

Thames Valley Police said his boat is located on the River Thames, near Folly Bridge.

Marc, who is from Leicester, is likely to be around the Oxford area, police said.

It is not known what Marc was wearing when he went missing but according to a police appeal for information about his whereabouts, he usually wears dark tracksuit bottoms, a dark top or jumper and a beanie style hat.

Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of a Leicester man who hasn’t been seen for more than 10 days.

Marc Wilson, who is from the city, was last seen on his boat on the River Thames, near Folly Bridge in Oxford, on Saturday, January 8.

He’s not been seen or heard from since, prompting police to launch an urgent appeal for his whereabouts.

The 49-year-old, who was last seen at around 1.15pm on the day in question, is about 5ft 8in and has black hair.

Deputy LPA Commander Chief Inspector Jen Hogben said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of Marc and are appealing for the help of the public in finding him."

Sad update on Marc, RIP.

Officers searching for a man who had been reported missing from Oxford very sadly located a body on Wednesday evening (19/1).

Marc Wilson, aged 49, was last seen on 8 January and was reported missing to the force on Saturday (15/1).

Following an extensive search, the body of a man was found in the River Thames.

The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Detective Inspector Ryan James, based at Oxford police station, said: “Very sadly, following extensive searches, we have located a man’s body.

“Although formal identification has not taken place, we believe this to be Marc.

“Marc’s next of kin have been made aware and are being offered support by officers.

“I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who shared our appeal, and on behalf of Thames Valley Police, I would extend our condolences to Marc’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
