Do LE always release an individual's name once they've been charged? Just wondering as obviously with the SE case WC's name got into the press before he'd even been charged. Does LE have an obligation to make the name public if/when a suspect is charged for an offence as serious as murder?

The police don't have to announce it but because it would become public knowledge (i.e. it's a listed court appearance at that point), his basic details would be widely known.

The Met's news page announcing yesterday's arrest has been taken down a few minutes ago. I daren't guess whether that means the arrest has led to a charge, or whether he's been released. Watch this space!

Detectives investigating the murder of Maria Rawlings in Redbridge have charged a man.

Valentin Lazar, 20 (11.01.01) from Barking was charged on the evening of Monday, 10 May with murder.

He will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 11 May.

Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the incident room on 020 8345 3865; via 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD 3551/4May.

Quite a quick murder charge. Lets hope they have the right man, and the streets of Barking and Dagenham are now a little safer.

Thank God he has been charged! I bet he left his native country to escape charges there - I mean such behaviour didn't start yesterday right? Or maybe his whole family emigrated to UK? I wonder why Police still ask for info? Maybe they seek other victims of his previous attacks?

Another young man similar to PR in the Libby Squire case (that still touches my heart); arrogance, entitlement, sexual deviance, emotional detachment, misogynistic, cold, ill. So sad. Will probably be likely for the profile of the murderer of Julia James too. So very very sad for the victims and their families.

It's usually a personality disorder, a combination of APD/NPD/BPD, and the 'right' (aka wrong) mix of circumstances growing up. Plus a range of environmental factors. But it's the kind of psychological 'mistakes' that developed long before his first attack.

Have you seen his choice of profile photos? 1) A cartoon of a sexualised vampiric woman with the grim reaper standing behind her, 2) A man with full balaclava face covering and trilby hat (think invisible man from the 1970s) and 3) from his other profile, what looks like to be photo of militia men wearing balaclavas.
