A missing City worker, 48, has not been seen for 24 hours after checking into a London hotel.

A twitter post from Essex Police says that Matthew Haywood left his home in Tilbury for work in the City of London on Tuesday morning (September 7).

That evening he checked into a hotel in the Middlesex St area.

The last time has was seen was yesterday morning (September 8).

Essex Police has had the post retweeted by a number of London police departments including Tower Hamlets and Camden.

Police are worried about the safety of a missing Tilbury man.

Essex Police e are appealing for information to find Matthew Haywood, 48.

Matthew left his home yesterday to go to work in the City of London and stayed in a hotel in the Middlesex Street area overnight.

Detectives believe he checked out of that hotel this morning but no-one has seen or heard from him since.

He’s described as white, 5ft 11ins tall, of medium/athletic build, with a shaved head and grey beard.

He wears glasses and has tattoos on the tops of his arms.

When he was last seen he was wearing suit trousers and a shirt and had a rucksack with him.

Matthew Haywood, 48, had been staying at a hotel in Cambridge from where he is now missing from since September 9.

The appeal by Essex Police states they are worried about him and need to be sure he is okay.
