GUILTY UK - Megan Newborough, 23, raped, found dead on country lane, Leicestershire, 7 August 2021 *arrest*

I just don’t believe a word of it. It’s like he’s making it up for attention...
RSBM.

I'm assuming he's waived his automatic anonymity. They could have easily had reporting restrictions on details of the alleged abuse.

You are spot on @bluetit as always!
He absolutely could have been planning it for months and was building an alibi. I didn’t even think of that. It seemed he wanted to confess to anyone that would listen, and it happened very randomly.
It’s a strange thing to come out with to a boss or work colleague too. It did strike me as odd he would choose to confide in them about something like that.

And I totally agree that he is now being portrayed as a victim! It’s infuriating me so I can only imagine what it’s like for Megan’s family. She is the victim. This is her murder trial. She was strangled, had her throat slit 14 times and dumped in a bramble bush by someone she thought she was in the early stages of a relationship with. How he’s managed to turn this around is disgraceful. I am terrified for the jury’s verdict too.

:(
If it wasn’t her, it would of been someone else, and he admitted it. He sent some disturbing texts to that woman he met at the bar, didn’t he? But she never got close enough to him. It could of easily been her. He was obsessed with this domination so he was possibly fantasising about killing women for a while. His fascination with sutcliffe makes sense, because sutcliffe also suffered from E.D and Ross probably related to that. The way they said he had a fascination wit sutcliffe says to me, that he was researching sutcliffe for a while.

Man accused of murder laughs while describing viewing 🤬🤬🤬🤬 after killing

“And I did the worst stuff you could do afterwards, which was leaving text messages.

“I hate myself for that – yes – and I felt like crap.”

McCullum was asked about whether he considered his “worst actions” to be sending the texts, rather than killing Miss Newborough.

Mr Cammegh asked: “Do I understand you right, so far as you were concerned, strangling Megan…”

McCullum then interjected, saying: “Using a knife as well.”

The Crown’s KC continued: “Using a knife to an extreme degree.

“And on the other hand you’re sending messages – you say the worst aspect was the text messages and the cover-up?

“That’s worse than, as we say, murdering Megan in cold blood?”

McCullum replied: “I know there was no control over that.

“I wasn’t myself.

He really is unbelievable.

Man accused of murder laughs while describing viewing 🤬🤬🤬🤬 after killing

Will the jury be stupid enough to agree that viewing “domination p.o.r.n” is escapism from strangling a woman to death? Or will they be able to see that in fact what he was doing was reliving it.

I can’t believe what I’m reading. I’m speechless

I cannot even allow myself to believe that they will not see him and his actions the same way we do. He can never be out in public again.

Murder-accused used knife over fears others would be ‘cross’ at him, jury told

Brutal cross examination here.

Mr Cammegh then asked: “You thought by finding the knife, choosing to pick it up… walking from one room to another, kneeling down by her body and using it in the way you did.

“That those several choices you made were simply because you thought it would be preferable for the objective observer to discover that Megan had had a knife used on her, rather than having died through strangulation.

“Is that really what you’re telling this jury?”

McCullum replied: “It isn’t as cut and dried as that.

I didn't choose or intend to hurt Megan.”

MOO

Social rejection, isolation, and being SAd as a child is a perfect recipe for a boy or man to find comfort within the self-declared incel community or various misogynistic dialogues found online. Combined with so much anger and animosity toward the world that he decided rape and murder was a justifiable thing to do.

“Abusers have often also been abused“ is a concept that comes to mind. Obviously it doesn’t matter what happens to you growing up or what you believe about morality if you’ve gone and killed somebody about it. From that point these suspects and defendents are past the point of needing or deserving pity.

Unfortunately a lot of people love to sop up the sob stories because it’s nice to believe that a killer’s motive wasn’t pure sadism or villainy. But pitying a suspected criminal is not rational and fortunately motives don’t matter in a court of law. I have a feeling he has a lot of very skewed perspectives about society and relationships. Those kinds of beliefs don’t make a murderer but they do make a motive.

In short, having been bullied or SAd doesn’t really matter. If anything it’s a sign that this man has been hurting for a very long time and perhaps decided he’d commit a heinous crime rather than go to therapy.

I don’t believe he was sexually abused. There is zero evidence he was. Not that it gives him a defence regardless, but I don’t believe he was.

IMO

I hear you. I feel a bit differently about him because IMO he’s not an incel. I feel he’s lying about the SA or at least every incident he’s said happened as well. Personally I think he wanted to be violent and is trying to excuse it now.

No evidence that he raped her. The initial reports got a lot wrong. They also said that he burned her body and that it was charred, he didn’t, it wasn’t. If he’s evil enough to kill someone and then try to blame them for their own death then yes, he’s evil enough to waste everyone’s time with lies about his childhood. Why is it that the only abuser he could name was one with a degree of infamy that he would of heard about in the news (Stephen Beadman)?

Prosecutors accuse killer of 'pack of lies' over abuse claim

I can’t believe he’s subjecting himself to this. Why not just plead guilty? A whole court gathered around to talk about his penis, his p.o.r.n habits and his erectile dysfunction. If he wanted any weight in his ridiculous defence it would probably be better for him if he refused to stand and give evidence and pretended he was too mentally ill to do so.

Exactly, he confessed where he’d dumped her body straight away so it makes no sense why he’s gone not guilty.

The KC has quite rightly ripped him to shreds in that witness box. How humiliating for him.
I can’t stop thinking about Megan’s family having to listen to him. Laughing about watching 🤬🤬🤬🤬 hours after murdering their daughter, the comments like “I said Megan wasn’t a tramp” and then having to hear about a helmet the prosecution believes was intended to move her head out the house. I mean it’s worse than I thought.
He is pure disgusting and evil, a liar and a fantasist, and Megan seemed to sweet :(
I have no idea what she saw in him. :(

I feel so bad for them. Im honestly dreading the verdict because if it’s not guilty I will be furious. They can’t let him get away with this rubbish. They can’t send a message that you can invent some sob story and get away with murder. Sure, it might mitigate the sentence a bit, but he is still a murderer. I honestly can’t imagine how hard it must be for them. The prosecution is right, he tries to paint her as impure. It must be infuriating.
