And wasn't Mikaeel supposed to have put his gloves on?

Noone has said that he put his gloves on, just that the gloves left the house. Perhaps in the pockets of his coat?

Another naive question..... would RSO's in the area be known to LE and to other neighbors like they are in the US. Is there a registry for them? Generally when a child goes missing here one of the first things said is " all rso's have been checked or are being checked ' etc. But I don't know if that is common practice there too. Anyone ? tia

There is a national registry but it's not viewable online to the public like in the US, only the police can access it. JMO

The picture seemed a little curious to me so I used a 4 year old stand in (who only looked at mommy like she was insane twice) and a glass door. Because the sun was shining right in the pictures aren't usable, but from my knees it looked exactly like that. I also found the lines around the print to be a bit of a sign so I decided to make a huge mess with powder on another part of the same door. Around the powder you can see lines and marks and my door had similar marks from the kids. So that could indicate it's lower on the door at kid level, but mine went about 4 feet up.

Also the shoes coat and gloves. Him doing it himself could be a personality thing. My daughter is a stickler for the rules (and regularly lectures me and everyone else on them if you break one) so if for some reason she felt like she had to go outside she would completely put on socks, shoes, coat, gloves and all of that. Of course she would never go outside alone because of the rules so it cancels out, but still. My boy on the other hand would run outside naked in the freezing cold if we let him. So it's kind of a personality type thing.

I wish there was a way to know if there were socks missing. Socks could answer A LOT. If there are no socks missing that would very much point to him doing it himself. Unfortunately because of a very high sock turnover rate most people dont keep track of how many.

I might just be seeing what I want to in everything. I hope so much that he's ok. I think it hits too close to home with both of mine being 4.

ETA: I think a lot of parents do shove gloves into coat pockets when they take them off. That's a really good point.

How would no socks being missing point to him wandering off by himself? That is a bit of a leap of faith.

Good point, especially since he was wearing separate pants, instead of a footed sleeper, he may have worn socks to bed. My kids do frequently.

Guess it's too hard to say at this point. Could be from another day, another child, an adult. The tech may be stood or on their knees. Hard to know. Poignant photo though.

The forensics men are on knees and from the larger picture with them on knees it appears to be a child's print.

It's not hard evidence for sure, but it is indicative. A parent/grown up takes the time to put socks on before shoes. Most children do not. I teach preschool, and after any activity where shoes are removed like nap time a large majority of children want to skip socks and just put on their tennies.

That picture helps a lot. That's a lot easier to tell it's a child. Of course like someone else said it could be from another child at an earlier time.

I've just been down to the corner shop, its cold out there and so dark. No doubt it will be colder up in Edinburgh too. :(

I agree with the sock issue, my youngest two girls (5yr and 7yr) are almost always barefoot!! They both walk around the house barefoot most of the time, in the summer they will play in the garden barefoot. On school days I have to help little one with socks and shoes,
My youngest has escaped out the front door befor, while my back was turned, she would only go into our garden as it's enclosed and only through the day.
I haven't ever worried about her wandering or escaping through the night, she would think it was too dark and cold!!

Where can he be? Hope for some news soon x

Mikaeel’s beauty therapist mum Rosdeep Kular’s family originate from India.

She was married to Omotoso Adekunle Adekoya and the couple originally lived in Fife.

They married in Glenrothes in 2004 before moving to Edinburgh and had two sons Tarun, nine, and David, seven, and daughter Renuka, five.

The couple split and Rosdeep moved back to Kirkcaldy before she met another man and gave birth to twins, Mikaeel Zayn Kular and Ashika Miskinah Rosie Kular on 7 May 2010.

One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said:”We heard that there had been trouble in the stair in the morning.
“I’m not sure what went on but a man ran out wearing a hoody shortly before the police came.
“My daughter was watching from the window and said that a man wearing a dark hoody ran out the building, but she didn’t know what had happened inside.”

I'm not so sure on the sock thing, both my boys wear their socks to bed in winter and my 4 year old would never put shoes on without his socks, yet he will gladly run out to the garden barefoot, if shoes are involved then socks are too, again I think it is a personality thing with some children but not all are the same. I work with reception class children (4 and 5 year olds) and I can't think of a time when any of them put their shoes on without their socks if the socks are in sight.

I wonder where the coat and shoes were kept, this would make a difference too. Would an abductor take the time to work out who's coat was who's and find the right shoes if they are kept with the rest of the family's shoes? Also, jumping to conclusions here as we don't know anything about the religion of the family but Asian families don't tend to wear outside shoes into the house as it is regarded as dirty. Where is he?

Sky updating again - their reporter is saying that the focus seems to be intensifying again in the area around the building. LE still saying there is no evidence of anything criminal happening.

Wonder if the CRA has interrupted Scottish programming? Have to say that whilst Sky have sent reporters en masse to broadcast from Edinburgh, the other news progs here seem less involved.

I know this area. My husband is from here and his family still live there - much against his wishes. I've visited a few times, and its not a nice area at all these days. Always hearing stories of drug-related deaths, stabbings, robberies - and that is just the estate his family live on. Not surprised they moved, I wouldn't bring up children there.

From that article

N G, 35, who lives opposite the family said that she often seen him out playing and said he was always smiling.
“He was a happy boy, he’s always had a smile on. I’d see his mum playing with him and his brother and sisters.
“They have a little baby in the house too which is only about five months so I’d see her playing with the baby a lot.”
Mikaeel’s birth certificate reveals he was born to Rosdeep Kular, 33, a customer services assistant with a gas company.
His father is not listed.

Hmm thought there wasn't a baby?

Maybe she babysits and the neighbor just didn't know it wasn't her baby.
It doesn't sound like she talked to Mom, just observed her interactions with the kids. :twocents:
