There is something so sweet and innocent and filled with promise in this little boy's face. It is breaking my heart. I hope he is found safe. I dread the alternative. I have a relative who looked so much like him when he was 3 (he is now 9). Oh how I wish those many of us on this forum could be closer and do more. I have seen the dedication of the Websleuthers (often staying up all night for days just listening to scans and trying to figure all the possibilities). All we can do is continue to brainstorm and pray and I know I will be doing heaps of the latter tonight as well as holding way too tight to my children.

:please: Please come home safe, sweet boy. :please:

Just spent the last hour or two catching up on this one (in between working...). Very sad indeed, I don't feel very hopeful. Fingers crossed I'm wrong though, I would love for this little one to be brought home safe and sound.

No news is good news after that woodlands search , right? :(

I just don't see it , him wandering off. Imagine he did get himself dressed, coat and all and out the heavy door all alone with no one seeing him......... what THEN? How long can a toddler roam about unseen? Not very long in my book. Someone bigger than 3 had to have removed him. mooo

Just a reminder that Mikaeel was reportedly sleeping upstairs in the residence.

It's 6.30 in the UK, and I'll be away to work soon.

Sunrise in Edinburgh is about 2 hours away. Not sure what will happen. With no evidence so far pointing towards Mikaeel being taken from his home and no clues as to where he went once he left the building, not sure what will happen. There will be a press conference at 7.30.

He usually sleeps in the same room as his twin sister but was alone on Wednesday night.

That interests me as if he *did* leave on his own he may have gone looking for his twin.

And just to add to the other comments - yes, Asian here refers to residents of the Asian continent in terms of Ethnic origin, excluding the European countries.

Morning, I was so hoping I would wake up this morning and there would be news. I was up far too late thinking about this case last night. Let's hope the media update brings some kind of detail as to what they think may have happened.

Still no evidence of criminality but all lines of enquiry staying open and Police are not discounting anything at present. Still searching the same Areas today spreading out further.

(First time poster who has been viewing this site regularly as an avid viewer of shows such as 'Disappeared', I'm Scottish so this has hit closer to home than the stories on the shows)
From the press conference:
No apparent new news.
No significant images from the CCTV.
Mum and family distraught.
No confirmed sightings of Mikaeel. No suspects. No evidence of criminality.

I like most posters here cant help but think the police *KNOW* something else, it's just bizarre that this has happened. We all, I'm sure, remain hopeful that Mikaeel will be found.

Also saying they are still optimistic about finding him safe - which make me think that they might know a bit more than what they are saying and have an idea who he with? Just MOO

But also sounded like they are still seriously considering that he did leave on his own? I still don't understand why an unwell 3 year old would leave the warmth of his bed to go out into the very cold, dark night? Unless it was nearer the early morning (going by the 6.45am knock on that lady's door), but surely someone would have seen him wondering about at that time of the day.

Good coverage in the media and lots of volunteers by the sounds of things, so hopefully he'll be found today.

Police - Mum did put Mikaeel to bed. They have checked with neighbours when was the last time they saw him.

Press conference:

Call the number if you think you have any knowledge at all about his whereabouts or disappearance.
Searchers turn up at West Pilton Gardens at 10am.

All lanes of inquiry remain open, we are pursuing many lanes of inquiry.
Stressing again to call if you have any information.
Many resources will be deployed, many of which will be visible to you.

Ask for continued vigilance, out buildings, garden, sheds, cars etc.
Search them AGAIN even if you searched them already.
No evidence of criminality, very open minded... help us with the search.
Check anywhere a wee 3 year old could find some shelter.

Looked at and looking at CCTV images.
Mum is getting lots of support from police, family and friends.
She is distraught, just wants her little boy home, as do his brothers and sisters.
150+ calls to the help line, no sightings.

HAVE spoken to his father, all of the family have been very very helpful.
No suspects, no one in custody, all lines of inquiry are open.

A reporter really asked if there had been issues that might cause this THREE year old to run away.

Remain optimistic he will be found safe, but getting more and more concerned. Deeply concerned.
Missing persons inquiry, no evidence of criminality. All lines of inquiry are being pursued.

"The fact that he may have wandered from the property by himself is one avenue of inquiry."

Search is spreading with the passage of time and will continue to do so.
Still not any clearer on the TIME he disappeared.
Last seen 9pm when Mother PUT HIM TO BED.

One of the lanes of inquiry is who saw him before the mother put him to bed.
She did not answer whether they had actually found anyone.
After that question was asked and answered the press conference was stopped.

Asked again what evidence they have other than Mikaeel's mother's statement and who saw him before bed.
Again answers that they are looking and interviewing and opened minded and many avenues of inquiries.

Why launch Child Rescue Alert with no evidence of abduction?
We want every resource, this system is appropriate for when a child this young goes missing.

This is all so strange.

Just something I remembered, it's been reported that Mikaeel's father's name was not on his birth certificate. This may seem odd however it is more complicated to put a father's name on the birth certificate here, if the parent's are not married. Details can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/register-birth/who-can-register-a-birth

Unmarried parents
The details of both parents can be included on the birth certificate if they do one of the following:

sign the birth register together
one parent completes a statutory declaration of parentage form and the other takes the signed form to register the birth
one parent goes to register the birth with a document from the court (for example, a court order) giving the father parental responsibility

The mother can choose to register the birth on her own if she isn’t married to the child’s father. The father’s details won’t be included on the birth certificate.

This may be different in Scotland as I know there are a few things relating to parental responsibility that are different. Perhaps someone in Scotland can confirm?
