Sky news live - a child neighbour reported seeing or hearing a man tapping on their window this morning, that's why Police are looking at that property.

A newborn? And Mikaeel's father isn't on the scene? So I am wondering if there is another adult male connected here somehow.

The boy’s jacket and shoes are missing from his home in Ferry Gait Crescent and police have appealed to residents living in the Drylaw area of the city to search outhouses, gardens and wheelie bins in case he “wandered off” of his own accord during the night.
Neighbour, Nicky Garrick, 35, said: “He’s such a happy wee laddie.
“He’s got an older brother and sister who play out front in the summer but he’s too young and stays close to his mum. He wouldn’t even cross the road without her.
“I was outside at 4am and it was very quiet. The police appeared at 7am. The whole street is worried for him. His mum is being comforted by the other children, cuddling them.”
Amanda Spiers, 27, who lives nearby nearby, said she heard knocking at her door at 6.45am but did not answer the door because she lives alone with her children.
Another resident said he understood that police had taken fingerprints from the door in an effort to establish if it was Mikaeel.

Video entry system makes perfect sense.

Frank Arthur, 72, a retired project manager who lives above the family, said he had lived in the property for five years, and the family had been living downstairs throughout that time.
He added: “I didn’t hear anything unusual and I’m not aware of any disturbance in the night. It was the police who knocked on my door, and then we saw it on the news.
“They are a quiet family. Whenever I’ve seen the family it’s just the mother and her kids. There are four children and they’re a happy little lot.
“I’ve seen some of the children playing in the stair but they’ve never been a bother. They’ve been here all the time I’ve lived here, which is five years.”

Right, although I'm sure an early article said the father had not been around since Mikaeels (and twins) birth?

I wonder if someone cared for the children and was given a key to the apartment while the mother was in hospital having her most recent child? I would have guessed a family member, but as no family member has made any appeal on behalf of this little boy yet, I am guessing there is no family around.

It's not going to be an update he has been found safe and well, I fear. I hope he hasn't been found in that water. I can't even stand the thought of a little one being there. Water has taken the last three missing people whose cases I have followed. The last yesterday. Not this little boy too, please. :(

"Last seen going to bed"

There is that strange turn of phrase again. It sounds as though no-one saw him actually get in his bed? Or is it just me?

I think it's just poorly worded, they have said every time on the news he was last seen when "mum put him to bed" at 9pm.

I don't find it odd. :twocents:

How new is the newborn? A few days to a few months is a newborn in my book. If mom 's staying up all hours with a baby maybe the 8 yr old is helping her out by getting the smaller ones to bed . So mom may not have seen him physically get into his bed but he came to her and said good night and got a hug, what not. Just speculating over here.

I imagine if there is a newborn that mom is pretty tired and though I check on my kids before I go to bed each night, I can see not necessarily doing so with a new baby and potentially little consistent sleep.
