Well my theory all along is that the child was dead before 9pm and the sister was put to sleep elsewhere so she would not be a witness to his body being removed from the room. I am actually going with the neglect rather than the murder. I was worried when witnesses at the nursery said she brought the little girl but there was no sign of the boy. I thought - I wonder who stayed at home to look after him then? You can't just leave a sick 3yr old at home by himself even for the time it takes to get the others to school! He might have accidentally died in just that long, and there would have been a potential jail sentence just for doing that.

In Scotland, being detained just means being questioned. She can be questioned for 12 hours, then apply to question her for a further 12 hours. After that they have to arrest & charge or let her go.

I've just caught up this morning. This is so devastating! In my head I knew there was little chance of Mikaeel being found alive but my heart kept hope that he was warm and safe. In my experience kids of that ages totally trust and love their Mummy. I don't want to think of her harming him in fact I don't want to think of anyone harming him but it seems worse somehow if it was his Mummy.

I don't know how much you were loved in life Mikaeel but the people of the world love and care for you. RIP wee one

Okay... Mom has been detained for questioning but that is to be expected.

I always look outside the box... is there a way Mom be totally innocent here?

I see ways she could be less guilty... (covering for someone else for example.)
I am struggling to find a scenario in which she is 100% innocent. :please:

I don't want to jump to conclusions yet and I'd love to believe his MOM didn't do this to him.

At least the baby has been found.

That's really all I can bring myself to say right now.

I can't recall where I read it, but it sounds as though no-one but the family has seen him since 19th December, his last day at nursery. Since then he has been phoned in sick with a chest infection.

Switched off the tv last night just before the awful news was announced so have been reading through this morning and catching up.

As others have said, the part about Mikaeel sleeping alone due to illness was the first warning bell to me, and there were others from there on in.

This is absolutely tragic news and I am also hoping against hope that his mother is not directly responsible for what has happened to this lovely little boy.

Likewise I am also hoping she did not allow a search to be carried out if she knew where he was all the time. All those good people giving up their time and , as has been said, in some cases probably a day's pay, to search for her child - words fail me if this was the case.

Sky are reporting that Mikaeel Kular's body was found at a bungalow in Kirkcaldy belonging to his aunt.

Mikaeel's grandmother is a local GP in the area.

Mikaeel is believed to have lived in Kirkcaldy for a period of time before moving to Edinburgh with his mother.

Have just woken up to this devastating news. RIP little Mikaeel.

I sincerely hope that the location of his body doesn't mean that others in the family were involved in covering this up.

I have just finished reading all the posts and got caught up, what horrible news to wake up to.

Something didn't feel right with this story all along, we hoped and prayed that this time the child would be found safe. We live about two hours away from Edinburgh and everyone was discussing this at the shops, mothers on the school run, taxi drivers were seen with posters of the little man.

Such sad news, sad for all the people who cared about mikael to search for hours, sad for all police and services involved, and sad for the family.

If mum is found to have been involved, I hope they throw the book at her!
Sleep soundly little man xx

One of Sky's reporters said earlier that the gasps you can hear at the presser are from local residents - one of their camera teams was at the search base and when it was called back for the presser, some of those at the base came too.

Jeremy Thompson (their senior reporter) looks and sounds so tired and sad :(

So, was this poor baby dead and disposed of before being reported missing?

It also appears to be more than one adult involved.

How on Gods green earth do you have that conversation with a relative/friend? Can I bury a body in your garden?

I am sad right now and a little angry.

I suspect we will find he has been gone for a while longer than last Wednesday.

My heart goes out to his brothers and sisters. Especially his twin. This is going to be an awful thing for them to grow up with. I hope they can endure and grow up happy and healthy, in a life they deserve. :heartbeat: RIP sweet boy.

No more so than anyone else who might have been involved. I don't believe in singling out mothers for special revulsion when something happens to a kid.

I went to bed early-ish last night and just knew I'd wake up to bad news. :(

I really hoped my suspicions would be wrong.

Glad it didn't turn into an April Jones length of search though. All the time police are on a wild goose chase there are other people having to wait for help.
