25 VICTIMS of child abuse have launched a class action against Celtic fc. 5 decades after the abuse started and Celtic knowingly employing and re-employing paedophiles and decades of Celtic actively covering up and silencing the issue. Let’s hope they’re successful and more victims feel they can come forward. This is the biggest abuse scandal ever in Scotland and in world sport.

Former Celtic Boys Club general manager and Celtic employee Frank Cairney will appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday the 11th of October on fresh charges.

I feel like I’m losing it a bit - I’m sure I replied to this thread but I don’t see it now o_O.

With this being fresh charges against FC I assume this would be a pleading diet on Monday? I truly hope the victims can achieve justice. This class action lawsuit gives hope and with it being a relatively new thing in Scotland, I’m extra curious to see the outcome. Huge step forward for the victims. I just hope it doesn’t send them 4 steps backwards :(

It wouldn’t be the first thing regarding this to disappear from the internet, not even in the first 100. An online PR and internet cleaning company has been employed.

I suppose a class action is easier but potentially riskier as they’d all lose if it fails? The lawyer must be confident. Celtics defence has been they are a legally separate entity. Although their own official newspaper has described how important the boys club is in the pyramid for decades. Celtic officials employing youth coaches, forcing out whistleblowers, going on youth football trips, shared sponsors, shared facilities, badges and colours. The underlying question for me is, why did Robert Kelly give a young guy (Torbett. under 20yo) who was the original abuser and who apparently just walked in off the street, the use of all these things. What was in it for Kelly? Who introduced them? Why did Torbett want to set up Celtic boys club?
 
Frank Cairney is set to appear in court in January now after yet another delay at court today where he was excused from attending. You’d be forgiven for thinking they’re hoping he leaves his mortal coil before facing justice for this batch of crimes. Nothing is done with the victims in mind.

It is bad enough with just one football club but it seems most others had to issue an apology too, Rangers related to former youth coach Gordon Neely, what were they doing ignoring all this? MOO

Many predators have been uncovered in all walks of life and football is no different. What appears to set Celtic apart is the scale, number of predators, number of victims and number of convictions (so far) with various cases still ongoing.

Whistleblowers confronted and forced out by Celtic officials standing shoulder to shoulder with the predators. Predators allowed to stand down, reported as due to “work pressures” in celtics official magazine, then allowed to return and carry on abusing. Celtic officials given “plum jobs”in one of the predators businesses. That same official replacing a whistleblower with somebody who was later convicted of having a black bag full of pictures of naked children hidden in a cupboard at Celtic park. 6 predators working together at the same time.

A lot of it is on the thread with new stuff coming out all the time.

What is required is a full and independent inquiry. The Scottish government excluded sports clubs and religious institutions from their inquiry.
 
These photos were taken AFTER Paedophiles 1 & 2 had been removed from their roles in coaching children for sexually abusing them.

These are the kind of things that sets this scandal apart from cases where a predator has been exposed and removed. The numbers of predators involved, number of victims, protection given to the attackers instead of the victims, plum jobs given to officials who protected the attackers, and knowingly brought them back to carry out further attacks. The numbers of people who knew and failed to act to protect children.
 
A judge has given the go ahead for lawyers to serve legal papers to Celtic in the class action. The action was originally on behalf of 25 victims with the article stating that more victims have came forward since.
