Sounds like it to me. In the programme P said when he went downstairs everything was ready to go so it sounds like N wanted to get there sharpish in time for the teams meeting. I thought P came across completely natural and devastated and even said he called her twice when she was late getting back so for those trolls pointing fingers at him they’re very very wrong and need to stop it.
Just to say
That's true , since she used Teams regularly it would make sense that it would be set up to silence incoming calls during live meetings , thus negating this possibility .

Yet , if other witnesses had arrived on the scene they might have been looking or standing by or near the bench ( after all PA's calls were after 10 , we still have a 9:33-10:50 window , it's a long time that is still somewhat foggy to me ...especially with regards as to who was near that bench , with the dog AFTER 9:33 )
the window between 9.33 and 10.50 that you refer to… can you just clarify .
We know she had disappeared by 9.33 and her phone etc were found then in the vicinity of bench. So what happened between 9.33 and 10.50? Sorry to appear simple but was it the police who arrived at 10.50? Are we thinking that the be ch area was deserted ( as far as we know) from 9.33 until 10.50.

If an assailant was in the vicinity there was nothing more to be done in that window surely because he/ she would be totally occupied with NB

Asked how he feels about the situation, Mr Ansell added: "Anger, loads of frustration, confusion, disbelief, surrealism, nothing feels real."

He continued "It just doesn't feel real... I feel like I'm in The Truman Show. I honestly believe I'm going to wake up at any moment... how are we even in this? We are good people." Mr Ansell also confessed his frustration at the dog seeing what happened.

Paul said the fact Willow almost certainly witnessed what happened adds "another layer of frustration" to the situation. "It's a hellish situation with the layer of hell that, no, not knowing what's happened yet. And then also having Willow who probably does know what happened. Um, but she can't, she can't tell us, can she?" he said.

"And she’s a very sensitive dog. I did take her back there first thing on the Saturday, the day after."

Have seen some accounts who use McCann's daughters name in their Social Media accounts & yes they are posting stuff that just isn't accurate on this case.

This case - like the McCann's- has had massive media attention - think that is the main connection
There's plenty of missing person's families out there who are wondering why their relative isn't getting the same amount of attention.
What is it about this case which caught the national press's interest?

One from Nottingham. Link published yesterday
'My uncle is missing and presumed drowned - why aren't police helping us like the family of Nicola Bulley?'

‘Surely my uncle is just as important as this poor woman. Mark Bishop, 64, disappeared without a trace after he was last seen near an Aldi supermarket in Newark, Nottinghamshire, on 7 January this year.
Police believe he may have fallen into the nearby River Trent after crossing over a bridge but he has still not been found."
Definitely some cases attract more media attention than others and people do hook into storylines, especially when there's an air of mystery surrounding it. I think the fact this is an attractive and perhaps slightly vulnerable looking petite lady is one thing, out on a routine school run followed by a dog walk in broad daylight...as thousands of parents do almost every day for years...vanishing without trace, people do think wow how can that happen? The community have come out in force and been persistent in maintaining media interest. Also the inference that she fell in a river, so many people have checked in daily expecting that theory to be proven, that today is the day she will have surfaced or been found, it's fuelled momentum. And what with the dog left alone, the phone lying around, it's the mystery of the scene too. Not to mention the two young children, so many will identify with what they are facing. And though there are many missing people, the majority are located very quickly, whatever their fate

My read of that is that the partner will always be the first suspect, and they don’t want him interfering with the scene. Guesswork though.
Also, at that point, it was highly likely she’d turn up soon and there was some simple explanation, so him being home for her possible return, makes sense.

And i believe this was because he thought it had been a little strange earlier in the day after he woke up and everything had been organised more than any other day he was laready on alert. IMO
She probably prepared the things she had to as it was the last working day of the week and she had a teams work meeting at 9am so didn’t want to be late.

I find it odd that PA made his way to the bench but then was required to travel HOME to speak with the police.

I would imagine the police would get the most accurate information (e.g. where the dog, lead and harness etc was when he turned up) if they met him at the bench. He would have to describe from memory after leaving the scene. And how many people moved things in that time? As he states above "there were a few other dog walkers there and stuff like that".

And it doesn't seem right to require him to go home when his partner could've been in the water and visible. The police would not have had any of the mobile data then, just that her dog and phone were by a river but she was not. So, looks like initially they did not treat it as a drowning?
The best people to describe the scene were those who arrived first, but they'd already disturbed it as they 'handed' PA Willow and the phone.

Maybe it was to have him at home in case Nicola turned up or she, or someone else, tried to call him; she didn't have her mobile and could have found it easier to remember a landline number than PA's mobile.

'harness halfway down the embankment on the floor.'

We don't know if it was wet do we? I think that would be hugely relevant. I really question the river theory but being half way down gives it more weight in my mind. I presume they would have said if it was wet though
Nobody as said the harness was wet. Let's say it was!! Are you saying she went in a freezing cold river in jan to retrieve a item that costs a few pounds? Then when she gets in the river grabs the harness she then throws it 20 meters up a very steep embankment? Then drowns ?

But she could have been in the water (e.g. clinging to a rock) and the police did not turn up there immediately and went to his house instead? Saving life should always come first. The police don't know the scene if they haven't even seen it? And anyone else could have interfered in that time.
There's not enough to say they didn't go to both locations, home and the river.

If she had done something different, like fill the freezer with a weeks supply of pre-made meals, I might be concerned.

When Debbie Collier went missing, her daughter remembered that when her mom left that day, she did not say goodbye, which was something she always did. She had also sent her daughter a venmo payment with a strange message before she went missing. There were other subtle hints that she had committed suicide, but only her daughter, who was closest to her, recognized the signs.

But because of all the sm speculation and abuse, her own family believed she murdered her mother and confronted her at the funeral!

The sm abuse and harassment can ruin lives and rip families apart, and hinders crucial police investigations.

I'm not at all surprised that police have warned the public there will be consequences for the harassment. I wish they would do that more often.
It sounds as though NB was more organised that morning than usual.

Possible reasons:
1. Had a Teams meeting scheduled for 9
2. Was excited at something ( remember her parents said that she was upbeat on Thurs evening)

I keep going back to Thurs afternoon evening. Meeting in Garstang with boss who had driven over especially from Keighley area.
Straight after this meeting she has a zoom call re mortgage
Calls boss prior to 9 am Friday meeting.
So you could say her head is full of work related stuff…. She is upbeat

Next morning gone!

Respectfully, I don't find this significant given police have repeatedly ruled out foul play -- most recently by the same MSM publication but hours following OPs quoted link.

IMO, the two hours between NB's last sighting and NB being reported missing to police is easily explained by her normal routine.

For example, if one routinely drives the children to school, walks the dog, and is not expected to be home before 11 AM, why would you think they are missing any time before that hour?

I think this kind of reporting only throws suspicion on the partner that allegedly filed the missing person report with the police. MOO

Police have ruled out foul play and are treating the incident as a missing person inquiry, believing Ms Bulley fell into the water.

plus afaik, the whole thing in the Express came from Tilly Anne ( FoFamily) on FBook

I don't think she wanted to leave. But she could have been deceived into leaving the area of the walk somehow, and then she might have met someone unsavoury at the road and realised the situationw as different from what she thought. I increasingly think this. It's to me the only feasible way she could have left the area unnoticed. Unless she's still soemwhere in the area - as Paul seems to suspect - but being hidden or - something else.
One of my persistent thoughts is that she possibly had a meeting in mind to do with work.. even a vague arrangement. This accounts for her bring ultra organised that morning and upbeat the previous evening. It may have gone horribly wrong

  • #853
ok so what does it infer if things were more organised when he came down that morning?
Nothing? I'm from a big family. Some school mornings we were fighting over the bathroom and mum was trying to make lunches and make sure we'd got PE kit because we'd left stuff to the last minute. Other days it went like clockwork.

There's an interview in the Daily Mail today with search guy PF and, interestingly, he refers to NB in the past tense.

" This is a lady who knew this area intimately, she was slim and fit, and if she had fallen she could have grabbed on to the bank."

"Nicola was a pretty lady, she was a creature of habit, and she could have been targeted and taken."

It's an easy mistake to make but as he is being very strong on his view he doesn't think she in in the water, and may have been abducted, it seems a little bizarre. Maybe it is a clue/tell that he really does not think she is alive?

newish link ( published yesterday)

A woman living in Oxfordshire, who also shared anti-vaccine misinformation on Facebook, said she was able to “follow every aspect” because she was self-employed. She was adamant it was an “inside job” involving people close to Bulley after watching videos online, including one, shared thousands of times across different platforms, suggesting Bulley was kidnapped and taken through a nonexistent secret tunnel under the river to a nearby house.

Most of the more vocal speculators are based in other parts of the UK and have never visited the area but there are some who live locally who say they are frustrated at Lancashire constabulary for what they perceive is a lack of thoroughness.

Jamie McCormick, a graphic designer who lives a few miles away in Cleveleys, believes after visiting the scene there is “no evidence” she fell into the river, though he denies he is an armchair detective.

“If this is a case of a woman falling into a river and the police are tired of speculation, then just release the information that proves she’s in the river,” he said.o_O

Many commenters told the Guardian they believed Peter Faulding, who runs the forensic diving company Specialist Group International, when he said after a day searching the Wyre it was “not feasible” Bulley had fallen in.'

I think this would be one of the first things investigated and easiest to check out (with paper trail).

To me, sending one email and having one half hour meeting before 9.30 doesn’t sound massively busy or notable.

The boss visiting in person does, but maybe that’s more usual in her line of work and I’m sure has been thoroughly checked.

I did not take from interview harness was any closer to water than what we originally thought. Everything water side of bench is an embankment. It's steep.

Longer this goes on, she'll show up in water somewhere and police divers over first few days will be slated.

The only way she's not in the water is if the currently accepted timeline from 9.10 onwards proves false and nefarious
Interesting as it seems to be shaping people’s views. I’d like to know where it was found in relation to the bench. Wish it could be clarified

Just catching up with all the posts but wanted to come on quickly and say what a relief it is to see some compassion and understanding on here for PA as he is being so unfairly criticized in other places. Poor man - obviously he's not going to be pouring his heart out like some of us Soppy Southerners might do because he's a Northern bloke and it's not his way - IMO! I feel for him very much. Just My (rather emotional) Opinion.

“ The dog's harness was found on a bench along with her phone, which is still connected to a work conference call. The dog's lead was on the floor”
Exactly .. on a bench.
Which is it?? On bench or near bench or down the embankment?

Also, at that point, it was highly likely she’d turn up soon and there was some simple explanation, so him being home for her possible return, makes sense.

But considering the police's main theory is currently that she fell in the water, surely this was a huge mistake that needs acknowledging?

Now they are saying phone/dog near water means she probably fell in the water...but it did not cross their mind when 101/999 were told in the first place that a phone and dog were found without their owner next to the water?!
