I believe police knew very clearly what inference was likely to be drawn from the phrase “specific vulnerabilities“. It would have been chosen with great care. IMO they‘re trying to convey that they suspect suicide, while avoiding the use of that word. JMO and I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Re 2nd para did you miss the extensive and repeated narrative and appeals around dash cam and Garstang Road?
I just heard what the SIO said, I was watching it. SIO stated they had Garstang Rd/Rowanwater covered by CCTV footage and confirmed no sighting of Nicola leaving that way.
Yes, appeals for dashcam footage from surrounding roads, and?
They're adamant NB has gone in the river from one of those fields.

It's so misleading that they keep referring to Blackpool Lane as Garstang Road.

Vulnerable - high risk - missing person.

Agree. They knew it would be picked up on immediately. It was the first press Q&A point.

Police identified Nicola as a "high risk" missing person with "vulnerabilities". I hope the feeling I'm getting from that is wrong, but sadly I think it isn't. May God keep and protect those two children.

Sunday Times reporter Hannah asks again to be told about the ' vulnerabilities' because she says she's just been texted three times on what they are ( since this was just revealed) and that if LP want to ' dial down the speculation' they might want to reveal that.

Gob-smacking

(considering the SIO has already explained twice why that is personal private information, known to them but must respect the privacy of the family)
She's not wrong though - look at how many posts there have been on this thread alone since it was mentioned. God knows what twitter and facebook are like right now!

I thought they were both brilliant, very clear, concise in what they were saying and I suspect a lot of behind the scenes work went on to facilitate that- as in what was appropriate to release into the public domain etc. You can tell she knows this case inside out as she knew the detail without referring to notes etc, and knowing all of the (ignorant) criticism aimed at them over the past few weeks came across as confident and restrained; <modsnip - off topic>

JMO but the most significant detail was confirmation on what has been discussed on here preciously, that they escalated due to things making her a vulnerable missing person.

I just don't understand it - PA said they are a very happy family
That's to be expected, why would he be giving personal confidential sensitive information out in public?

Imo nothing to not understand

I still think that just because she hasn’t been found in the river does not mean she isn’t there. I know PF has said that she isn’t there. Just wonder what he will say or how he will feel if she is found in the river, especially in a part that he has searched.

Am I right in thinking that she said the areas in and out are covered by CCTV and they can say with confidence that she didn’t leave the area… but then went on to say that the main adjacent road is not covered by CCTV?

I don’t know how someone can be so confident when there is a major road that isn’t covered by CCTV.

Interesting that there were vulnerabilities. I wonder what they are. But wouldn’t like to speculate out of respect. Poor Nicola :’(

I had a look in the media thread, and ran a search and skimmed this thread but am pulling my hair out.

Is there a map of the area with the relevant field, river, gate, access points clearly marked? Because I can't find it. It would be really useful to add to it the "CCTV blackspot" mentioned in the press conference to see where that might lead some thoughts.

This presser has narrowed the options down to two imo:

1) She jumped in the river
2) She voluntarily disappeared and had planned to do so.

Against 1) no body - very odd. She must be at sea which just seems unlikely. Thus I'm leaning towards 2) there has been no discussion from the police or media really about the path leading through the stile and down to the river. If she has gone anywhere this is about the only option.

Still all very odd imo.

Major difference. She was found
Rivers are highly complex features, particularly if they flood regularly like the Wyre does, given the debris, trees etc. that gets carried and deposited randomly. More so on tidal stretches.

The media are vermin, I can see them straight on the phone calling up the 'self-appointed' spokesperson for the family, Emma White to shed more light on this. I bet she is itching to get on the camera again.

Yes, or try and winkle it out of PF

Some media are great, some journalists are great but I did not recognise any of those reporters names as reporters who specialise in reporting crime, law, home affairs etc.

Could she have been pregnant? Would that make her a vulnerable misper?

I have been wondering this. It would could also add another dynamic that may explain her disappearance.

The problem with saying NB had specific vulnerabilities, not explaining further and then asking people not to speculate, is that it does rather invite speculation...
I have to agree

This may be why family are appealing to her to come home too. I really hope she is still out there somewhere thinking things through. JMO.

The only thing I don’t understand is why are family members still wanting land, buildings etc searched if they are of the belief it may be related to vulnerability. I guess it’s just hard to take as a family member. JMO.

The Police will have known about her vulnerabilities since Day 1 and they specifically said high risk. Whatever these vulnerabilities consist of, this will undoubtedly have played a contribution in their belief since the start that she is in the river.
