Though hasn't it already been established that Penny was the person who tied Willow up using string (though we're not certain it was string or whether it's relevant what was used, even though it's now said the lead was left behind)?
I'm seeing quite a bit of discussion about who tied up the dog, but I don't see how it's relevant. We know that the dog was found running loose initially. Who cares who tied her up? It makes no difference.
If NB left scene of her own volition, I would guess that she would secure Willow with harness and lead to bench, so that she would be safe and found next to NB's phone for ID etc.
Snipped.

Wouldn't that depend on NB's intentions? If she staged the scene to make people think that she had been abducted or had fallen into the river, then leaving the dog loose could have been deliberate.

There are places in that park where NB could have been abducted easily and pulled into a vehicle, but the bench where the phone was phone does not appear to be one of them based on the maps that have been provided, and the timing is so tight that it would have been virtually impossible for an abductor to stage the scene.

Right now I am leaning towards a voluntary disappearance from the park itself, possibly followed by suicide in another location.

Looks like it is over turnover hall caravan park and just circling around in a similar area just south.

Has it landed or just stopped? It’s not moved for a while for me

On the contrary, it makes a lot of difference! If the basic facts on the first hour of her disappearance can't be sorted out and got straight, what hope is there?

That first hour has had so many people, and phones in different places, bench, ground, bench, ground, dog running wild, dog at gate, dog out of harness, dog tied up with string, dog not tied up. It's an absolute farce!

There has never been one definitive timeline and evidence report from that first hour or two....and it needs to happen!
Lancashire Police can issue one. Surely they must have one themselves... they can't be as unsure about the first hour as we all are!

It's probably just me but I tend to dismiss any phrases such as 'the most amazing mum ever' as being typical of facebook (which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole!).
Well, exactly. The issue now is that NOT calling someone who’s missing / been the victim of a crime etc “the most amazing mum ever” (which logically, not everyone can be) invites suspicion, so you basically have to use this phrase or someone will think the kids are not being cared for. Not commenting on NB personally, but it’s quite striking when for example you watch a documentary about someone who has objectively made plenty of parenting mistakes and acted selfishly at times (I mean over and above regular parenthood) and hear that phrase.

If someone said, “X (note: again, I don’t mean NB personally here) was a really caring mother, she the best she could — of course she didn’t get everything right, but who does? I’m sure mostly she did what she thought was right and put the kids first,” I personally would appreciate the honesty, as it describes nearly every mother I know, but then I imagine there would be lots of posts noting that someone wasn’t unequivocally described to be at Virgin Mary levels of motherhood.

Wilow running loose at the scene still concerns me. Was the harness found on the ground fastened, which may indicate Willow had got out of it, was the harness attached to the lead (first mention of the lead in the last LP press conference?)? Or was Willow tied to that strap as shown in the photo in post above? If NB left scene of her own volition, I would guess that she would secure Willow with harness and lead to bench, so that she would be safe and found next to NB's fone for ID etc. If the harness was undone, not attached to lead, this would suggest to me that NB did not deliberately walk away or enter the river, so her disappearance more likely to be an accident or a third party was involved (not speculating abduction per se). All MOO.
I think that if the harness had been fastened it would have been significant enough for the police to have mentioned it, because that would have tended to suggest that either NB had fastened up the dog, but it must have got free; or that she'd put the harness back on the dog and then 'something happened'. IMO.

Yes, you are right, I hadn't considered the scene was staged, I was applying my own logic that I wouldn't leave my dog loose with no intention of going back for her. And yes, I am aware that NB may have been thinking very differently that day. MOO

Re-posting mainly as I'm interested to hear whether anyone else here on WS is hearing/suspects a degree of 'subtext' in this defence of Nicola:

"Mum-of-three Nadia - whose daughter is best friends with Ms Bulley's youngest girl - said: "The rumours are starting that Nikki is an unfit mum… I will not hear it. Nikki is the most amazing mum ever. Those girls are her world."

She added: "Many’s the time my daughter has spent time with Nikki without me and I’ve trusted her without question, why wouldn’t I?"

In the forthright Facebook post, Nadia continues: "I’ve never seen any red flags. Nikki is a normal mum. We all have ups and downs and being a mum is hard."

Well, they're hardly going to make adverse comments about Nicola. Though I notice the emphasis is on 'mum' and 'friend', not 'partner'. JMO.

Agreed, except the lead wasn't mentioned in any LP press conference until the last one.

I don't know. It may be just the friend's verbiose way of saying that she's sick of seeing all these posts casting aspersions on NB's care of the children. Be honest, we've seen them on WS too. Plenty talking about social services, about why her parents looked after them on the odd occasion (like any grandparents) and 'how dare they risk NB driving them in the car' etc. I even found it sickening myself.

One of those cameras cyclists wear on their helmets. A popular brand is "GoPro".

Interesting about bikes. The kissing gate does not look bike friendly but I imagine occasional keen mountain bikers probably do go there from time to time .

IMO the obedience level of the dog is interesting.

If the missing person went or was taken via the gate perhaps the dog would have just stayed if told to. Some dogs are very obedient.
Trail cams are usually not body or dashcams. They’re remote cams specifically placed, like rivers/trails/etc.

What does the altitude say? That's the clue for if it's landed or hovering.
Good point still trying to work it all out

Looks like it’s going back to base now anyway. Think it was glitching when it had appeared to have stopped

I understand her friends defending her and I agree, those types of comments are unnecessary and to me, uneducated too.

I am hesitant to disclose IRL I have a drinking problem as I know people will immediately assume I can’t be trusted with looking after children or behind the wheel of a car, and some will even assume I am violent or abusive. None of those things are true. I’m a professional middle-aged woman with a fairly high-stress and long hours job. I’ve never been violent or arrested in my life, nor have I ever driven after drinking — ever. I have however lost jobs, damaged my relationship, and worried those around me due to my drinking habits. I’ve drank in the morning, passed out at work, and at the lower end of the scale, somehow managed to get lost a couple of streets from home.

So this is the risk with the police’s “alcohol issues” disclosure. I totally get it, but yes, a lot of people don’t. People don’t understand drinking problems can be of all different types. Based on her friends’ comments, I imagine Nicola avoided drinking when in the care of her own or other children, and probably didn’t drive drunk either. I suspect as many do, she wasn’t constantly obsessed with drinking or drinking all the time but looked for “windows” to abuse alcohol. In fact drinking when working from home when the kids were at school would strike me as a decent “opportunity” if my head were in a certain place, especially if I had a “good excuse” to go out and be by myself like dog walk / Zoom call. “Why would you drink when you should be working?” — well it would seem more logical to me than drinking when the kids are around and you’re driving. Drinking on a Zoom call, maybe could get away with it and no harm done.

Police have sealed off all roads near to the river where Nicola Bulley went missing 23 days ago.

A photographer at the scene told the Mirror: "It all happened so fast. Police have sealed all the roads off."

I've every confidence that the police know the timeline in detail. No one else needs to. IMO

Guess we’ll find out very soon whether this is relevant to the case or not. Could be the big breakthrough.

Hope it’s for all the family and friends.
