Live tide times for the stretch of river located close to current police activity at Shard Bridge.
Can anyone explain when’s the best time to search? Surely low tide you can see a lot more of the riverbed? Thanks

Private diving expert says he is 'baffled' after finding no trace of Nicola Bulley following search of 'large areas of the water' as police focus on river path in hunt for missing mother

A private diving expert has said he is 'baffled' after finding no trace of missing mother Nicola Bulley following a search of 'large areas of water' close to where she is believed to have vanished.

Speaking to MailOnline, Mr Faulding said both his team and Lancashire Police after finding 'nothing' during search efforts today.

He said: 'We and police are all baffled. Police were there on day one diving where the phone was found on the bench.
Normally if a person has drowned, they go down within a few metres if being searched for the same day.

'Police were expecting to find her there. We will be going over that same area tomorrow. We will also be going quite a lot further up river tomorrow.

Quick reminder that not all Twitter sources are allowed, and the ones that are need to be linked. If you can't link it, don't post about it here, because it's a rumor. See the social media rules linked below for which ones are allowed, but in short, LE, MSM, victim, perpetrator. Random sources not allowed, considered rumor. Thanks!

Whilst we wait on developments, I've been doing some research on fitbits this evening.

Turns out you can use apps like Light Blue explore to locate bluetooth devices which are within connectivity range, including other people's fitbits.

You install the app, it shows devices within range and gives you a signal strength so you can effectively triangulate them.

Caveats in this case are that it would have needed to be done before the Fitbit battery died, and it would be possible to pair with the missing device but you wouldn't be able to get the data off it (unless you request the data from fitbit themselves).

From the latest LE post:

Our enquiries now focus on the river path which leads from the fields back to Garstang Road – for that we need drivers and cyclists who travelled that way on the morning of January 27 to make contact. We have already done a lot of work around this, but every piece of footage helps us build up a picture of movements on that morning.

As far as we know the only exits from the field to Garstang Road are Allotment Lane (which we know had CCTV) or the small farm lane further up near Rowanwater

There is a YouTube channel with footage from a Ring camera looking out onto the field with the farm entrance. Is this the broken CCTV that was spoken of?

Should the device be underwater, it completely alters the signal path, it's possible to pick it up, but unlikely. The signal would not reach the surface of the water, unless very close to the top. I doubt a FitBit would work if you threw it in a half filled bath, and put your phone in the same room. The water attenuates the signal.

Kerist that sounds very complicated! Well done for posting

Interesting. We could assume the watch was charged overnight so had near to full battery when leaving the house. My only concern would be how long they can withstand water. I know some models are waterproof to certain depths, but for only so long. It would have well over an hour before the police even got there.

I'll take your word for it, add that to the caveats list :)

"We can say with confidence that by reviewing CCTV, Nicola has not left the field during the key times via Rowanwater, either through the site itself or via the piece of land at the side."

"Also, we can say that she did not return from the fields along Allotment Lane or via the path at the rear of the Grapes pub onto Garstang Road."
