They have one of if not the best sonar machines available. They can see sticks on a river bed, they have a team of divers on standby to check any area they see something that needs checking or to check areas they don’t see the sonar can see clear enough.

It is safe to say Nicola is not in the river, in the areas that SGI searched.
This part being the most salient.

Yes, very confusing indeed. And if I've got this right, NB was actually not wearing that 'bobble hat' on that day, was she? Even though it was extremely cold, about 1 degree.
Certainly no mention has been made about her wearing it that day that I'm aware of

as a previous poster mentioned this poor innocent seal was shot in the head back in 2012.

The seal was found under the bridge on the bank of the River Wyre

Never found the perp..but must of been a
Local angler. Someone with a gun. who clearly has a ruthless attitude towards 'pests" .. they got away with it whoever it was.

So the witness who was in a hurry for a meeting who 'suddenly" couldn't remember who's dog Willow was, had string on her person to tie dog up then didn't alert anyone for over an hour to what she had found or done? Is this correct?
No one said she tied Willow up with string?

And she didn’t leave it for an hour to tell anyone she’d found a dog. She told her DIL as soon as she saw her/got hold of her when she went home. It does take time to remember whose dog it is, then remember who knows the owner etc. The DIL eventually rang someone at the school who knew NB. It was at 10:50 that the school phoned NB’s partner. I think that timescale is pretty accurate, actually.

This wasn’t a dire emergency at that time. They had no idea NIcola was missing as such. Someone asked why the woman who found Willow didn’t call 999 immediately…I mean, please…

She wouldn’t leave her dog and phone there to go and sign papers in a car. A car parked a long way from there too.
I agree.. for that to have happened she would have taken Zillow and the items would have been discarded a little later at bench by assailant/ unknown person

That is the story but is it also safe to say that there is -nothing- in there at all? What happens if there is a piece of water logged wood? I just spotted a piece of waterlogged wood beside my boat the other day after some recent floods. It wasn't there before. Its about 9ft long and about 1ft diameter. Big thing. How would someone with a sonar deal with this?

Do they remove everything they see? If not them IMO this search is subject to failure in complex environments.

Has anyone else noticed in the most recent official press conference with Sally Riley on Tuesday just gone, she mentions and uses words below in bold (I have bolded) which are past tense? as if she isn't in the water anymore but they know she was at some point?
My interpretation from use of the past tense here: in the river at some point … now in the sea…

Welcome!

That was discussed a little earlier, it could be possible (theoretically at least, I’m not poking that hornet’s nest as none of the experts seem to agree) that if NB had entered the river then her body could be out at sea or very nearly by now, and therefore not still in the river.
oops, thought I had read everything!!! sorry.

RSBM

IMO they’re not doubting the possibility of that one thing occurring. Not doubting the feasibility of ANY of those things - in isolation. But for ALL of those things to have happened, at the exact time…
Well imo that is the problem with this case ruling out possibilities right away. Again I'm staggered people dont see it possible for someone to abduct a woman on her own with a gun or knife. With no witnesses around and plenty of exits available. I wouldn't find it feasible a woman on a cruise ship with her family and lots of witnesses could be taken in daylight but that happened. I could bring up thousands more cases of abducted women that sound crazy and not possible but they happened

It would certainly stop measuring heart beat and probably steps as well. I think this comes down to what is making the police so confident in their hypothesis, and what you've described would probably result in steps and heart stopping at the same time and that throws up various scenarios and I don't see them being so confident. However, let's say the data showed she took her last step at 9.20 and her (please let this not be the case) last breath at 9.30 then this points to her being in the water sadly. How she got there is anybodys guess though, I'm not buying the falling in for various reasons, I think she was assaulted by someone who may then have removed her somehow.
Would it also measure erratic movements if it remained on her wrist, either during a struggle with someone or her flayling around in water...either of which would show increased heart rate? And would it's data indicate the item being underwater, either still on her wrist or if it had been removed and thrown in?

Can someone clarify - I know different things have been said - Has the large house across the river from the bench been properly search by the police?

I know initially the owner "had a look" and said there were no signs of her, but has it been searched or not?

Don't worry about it, nobody has time to read everything nor wants to read the same conversation that's happened at least 20x over the course of these threads!

Just been reading up on fitbits on trustedreviews.com and the more recent models (Fitbit sense 2) can measure your skin temperature. Also ECG, EDA scan for stress measurement, AFib detection and heart rate tracking.

If the police do have the data from the watch and Nicola owns a recent Fitbit, perhaps they can see a sudden and drastic change in her skin temperature and presumed that only entering cold water could cause such a drop.
They are also waterproof up to 50m.

Update- Also can measure blood oxygen saturation.

They always believed she was most likely in the water - which is not the same as 100% sure with proof and imo this doesn't suggest that. Now that she can't be found in the area searched so far and keeping with the same theory, it's logical to assume she has shifted.

So if someone thought they saw Nicola with her dog.. then it could be that Willow is the only springer spaniel that they see regularly.. and therefore when they see a female shaped figure with springer spaniel they immediately believe it to be Nicola.
Yes exactly that. We base what we see, most the time, on established memories and what we then expect so that is definitely a possibility IMO but it's fitting everything else together.

I find it very possible, but I've had it happen to me (attempted, luckily rescued) which is probably partly why. Also I was thinking about the probability of NB being grabbed when I was sitting down by the river this morning (I live by the River Dart). I watched a couple of women walking their dogs past at around 9.30 and both of them at different points went out of sight behind trees and bushes and I didn't see them again. Made me think how easy it would have been for a perpetrator.

Just looking at bus timetables and there was only 1 going past at around the time of 09:24. The number 42 to Blackpool. I’m sure that LE will be looking at bus cameras. Not sure with it being rural what types of buses they have. I recall back to the CL disappearance they did manage to capture bus footage from several onboard cameras outside the house. Hopefully they get more info from dash cams etc.

From Feb 7th Press Event, LE state that the Fitbit has not produced any particularly useful information.

Simple.
The river moves to the sea.
