when Supt Sally Riley said that ' local business owners' had suffered abuse, am reading between the lines on that

IMO we just have to trust that the interviewing of witnesses has been thorough ( conducted by experts - there's 40 detectives on this case)

The reason we can't sleuth non-POIs and witnesses on a public thread is down to WS ToS but there's also a wider reason - it can potentially ruin lives as it causes distress thru unfounded accusations & can destroy reputations. ( Nothing to stop you speculating in private groups you want to set up on WS)

edited to add:
If you're new & want to do that, just invite people who share your theories onto a ' conversation' There are threads explaining how to do this or, just hover over members' ID tags here and ' Start conversation' and then you can invite the rest.
PS. Definitely wouldn't then share the wilder theories on another site like FB -this kinda stuff has legs and libel is a thing.

its brilliant that they can do this remotely on Fitbits,

The point I was making is that they can't do this. Fitbit servers will be a backup of the data from the app on the phone.

a) The Fitbit records and stores data to itself (usually 7 days detailed or 30 days summary)
b) When you sync it via bluetooth, it passes that data to the app on the phone
c) The app on the phone stores that data on the phone
d) The app also uploads the data to the Fitbit servers (if permitted)

The only data that the Fitbit servers will hold is what the app sent them.

IMO

Regarding Fitbit - if the police had cast iron Fitbit data that showed a sudden jump in heart-rate and BP between 9.20 and 9.33 don’t you think they would have shared it with the family at least?
Maybe they have and the family concluded that a jump in heart rate could mean a number of things: an accident, an attack, medical situation, excitement etc

Judging by how close Lancs are holding any information to their chest, no I don't think so. JMO.

If you can live with the stop/start nature of this video then it's quite good for showing the topography. It's from the Mirror.

It's weird tho because you'd think if the police did have that almost evidence then they'd have shared it with Peter? And Peter was very flip-flopping. He said definitely not, then he thinks she is in the river just a day later, now he's searched for a few days he thinks she's not again. So it would seem he doesn't have any other info either?
I am surprised the police have not shared more infomation as to why they think she is in water, I’m hoping they do have evidence to support their statement, but they will not tell us everything that’s going on, looking at the evidence available it points to the water, am I convinced? No.

Just a casual observation! If the slope near the bench is potentially dangerous, how is it that since it has become a tourist attraction that so many people have stood there and walked around and not one person has been reported as having slipped/tripped or fallen. Looking at footage from various sources, nobody I have seen appears to be struggling with the slope by the bench. JMOO

I know we have been discussing the fitbit quite a bit and everyone has their own ideas on what the police know. But sometimes we just need to look back to the Police conference on the 7th February where it was stated the following:-

Reporter - Have you been able to obtain any information from Nicola's Fitbit device at all?

Superintendent - That remains ongoing, but nothing so far that has indicated any particular helpful piece of information. Thank you.

We have to take them at their word on this that nothing helpful has been found as of yet.IMO

UK - Nicola Bulley, St Michaels on Wyre (Lancashire), Jan 27, 2023 *MEDIA, MAPS, & TIMELINES - NO DISCUSSION*
Quoted from another poster (via a LE presser), the Fitbit HAS NOT given LE any particular information.

Why would they?

I understand friends of Nicola are only trying to help because the family must be going through absolute hell, but it's all hearsay. A lot of MSM reporting appears to be just trying to generate clicks, IMO. So from now on I'm only concerned with what the police state as fact.

I thought it was a bit warmer that week. That's why I was confused when I saw a few people being interviewed wearing wooly hats Right down, as if it was minus temperatures. <modsnip>
Its 7 where I am and yes most people are wearing bobble hats and gloves. <modsnip>

I'm not sure about the timing of the 9:10 sighting only on the basis that it implies Nicola was in IN the upper field. on reflection, she could have been seen FROM there, either on the path approaching or on the tow path. Finding the dog loose later at 9:30/9:35 doesn't mean Nicola had left the area, of course, and it doesn't implicate the finder necessarily. Nicola was just separated from her dog and her phone. I don't think where the dog was tied up and where the lead and harness were found necessarily denote where Nicola could be or was [potentially taken] at that time. The sense of there being both a window and a specific place is holding back the investigation imo. It's clear there are secluded approaches to her regular walk route - it would be far better to investigate how to leave that place unnoticed.

I feel this has reached a point this thread / case should be closed on websleuths and only opened when new information comes to light.

Without any new information, I think we're caught in a never ending circle of speculation now.

Unless dashcam footage turns something up I suspect we're at a loss. JMO

From previous alerts:

MOD NOTE:

No one has been officially designated by law enforcement or in mainstream media as a Person of Interest or suspect.

Yet he wasn't. The police were watching him straight away. Obviously not going to tell us at the beginning. He spoke in the past tense and wanted to be interviewed which was what got them suspicious. The caravan woman is not on camera talking to the media is she.
I stand corrected

A very pertinent point.

The police are so convinced that there is not a criminal element, add to that:
1. High risk missing person
2. Fast response by PA to call police
3. Very small window for foul play
4. Police now saying she could have exited Garstang path lane unseen

I revert back to my previous post. It may be harsh and sad but despite outwardly appearing happy, you just don’t know how people are really feeling. IMO.

Just watched the press conf question and answer you refer to in your previous post - that is quite the pause after she is asked the question.

I wonder if, for example, people are being careful on the slope that is reported to be the site of a fall into the river. Just a thought.

Thanks. I noted this on satellite though, sort of between two fences.

Not sure whether allowed so admin please remove if not and sorry.

I've marked above where I think the path is so you can still see it.

I did have a look at that area (The Oaks cul de sac) a while ago on street view and couldn't spot any paths from the fields. If there is one where you've marked it leads onto Allotment Lane which has apparently been ruled out?

I initially thought from your prior post you meant this one (in yellow on the image) that leads onto Garstang Rd further east. Looks like it could potentially be accessed from the fields.
