RBBM

The Fitbit hadn't been updated since the Tuesday before and therefore won't be telling the police anything about the Friday.

Obviously if it's found the police may be able to get some data from it as it's waterproof to a certain degree, IMO.

I have just seen this article that has been released today.. I know police have said about a third party not being involved and it being broad daylight but unfortunately there are opportunists who wait and observe then act in the moment. I absolutely hope this is not the case but I also hope police track this vehicle down and take the tip seriously .. every single avenue should be explored until she is found IMO

Searches for mother-of-two Nicola Bulley entered their sixth day today with no trace of the mortgage adviser last seen in picture postcard St Michael's-on-Wyre. Her worried family are distraught at her disappearance and her partner Paul Ansell has tried to protect their two little girls by explaining 'mummy is lost'. They are said to have 'cried their eyes out' as he tried to console them while himself terrified at her unexplained vanishing.''

I found what is IMO an interesting definition of a "deep hole" in angling terminology.

"
Deep holes are usually resting lies but some can also be considered prime lies. A resting lie awards protection from both predation and current force. A deep hole’s depth provides protection from predation and the current. Although many deep holes may lack an abundant food supply such as a riffle can provide, drifting food may still be deposited. Many times deep holes become daytime hiding places; at low light fish migrate to feed in the riffles. Tail outs of deep holes may contain a riffled area. Deeper holes directly downstream from shallow riffles can also become prime lies because emerging insects are delivered directly into these holes. An alarmed fish can quickly return to the depths of the hole for protection."

(My bold)

If this area is a protection from the current for fish it seems to IMO be possible that there could be some sort of unusual effect. Normally you would think there is some current in a river. If there isn't, which is what this article (random Google search result so possibly not reliable) is suggesting, then could there perhaps be some parts not visible from above?

Totally with you on this. Late news of this red van (late to us general public at least) is yet another interesting twist. Tbh I'm not ruling anything out yet, based on current info from police. River fall, abduction (by humans, not aliens), walking away, it's all still on the table for me MOO.

@russeverton

You mentioned, earlier in the thread that you were not sure if the police were treating Nicola’s disappearance as very suspicious early on. I would have to agree, I feel too much emphasis was on Nicola falling in to the river, a ‘tragic accident’ based on the scene surrounding the bench, so close to the river. I appreciate this scenario may still be the case and could still be an obvious conclusion.
I saw the other day a Telegraph article that mentioned a ‘tatty red van’ which I could not read due to the paywall. The Sun have now written their own article on this. The person states that they called on the day of her disappearance (Friday 27th January) via 101. The person then re-reports the van sighting (from the 27th) again on the 2nd February (the following Thursday). You would have to assume that’s because no police had been in touch. The Red van is seen on ‘Hall Lane’ outside a barn in St Michael’s on Wyre. This road runs directly below the river near to where Nicola was last supposed to be. I would like to think that this sort of information could be vital to an investigation and yet the person had to re-report it. It makes me wonder how many other bits of information have slipped through the net/yet to be handled or need re-reporting?

I appreciate the police are currently handling over 500 lines of enquiry and it’s an immense task but surely a local person reporting a suspicious tatty van, outside a barn on a road a field or so away from where she was last seen, on the day she went missing, might get some priority?

For sleuthing purposes (whilst the thread was out of action) I have looked for a nearby cake shop, as mentioned in the article. I think the nearest could be Light Ash Farm Shop & Cafe (PR3 0RT) which seems to be renowned for their cakes and is not far from Hall Lane. Although the cake shop really isn’t relevant!

If I were a family or friend I would be concerned that potentially life saving information was not being handled quickly enough and this could explain some of the behind the scenes frustrations we appear to be seeing. JMOO

Nicola cops search for ‘tatty red van’ seen on the same day mum vanished

Thank you Mods for all you do here!!
Definitely do not want people confusing web 'sleuths' with Ws! imo rbbm

"You're letting speculation take away from the actual facts.
"We are at the point where this type of 'help' is making people who live in St Michaels feel unsafe.

"Please don't let this continue to happen."
It comes as another pal begged trolls to stop slinging "disgusting" accusations at Nicola's partner Paul Anesll.

They said lurid theories have surrounded the chilling case since the mum vanished in St Michael's on Wyre on January 27.

Friends said they had now been forced to defend Paul, after web sleuths suggested he was involved.

Yesterday, the heartbroken partner visited the site Nicola was last seen.

Police were today seen scouring the sea and coastline - 20 miles away from where the mum vanished.

A new lead also emerged as a "tatty red van" was said to be seen parked close to where Nicola went missing on the day she went missing.''

Interesting post by the ex detective here including these 3 options (according to him) which I agree with:
1. She fell in the river
2. She left of her own free will
3. Third party involvement (aka abduction)

It's an interesting read for sure.

Re the tatty red barn on Hall Lane as per the Mirror article upthread. This is the main road to Inskip on the other side of the river. The same road of her children's school. How has NB supposed to have gotten here? She would haveto have walked down the towpath, turned left into Blackpool Lane then left into Elm Lane all without being seen. Highly unlikely. Imo.

I had a look on Google Maps ( satellite view) of the barn she describes it as being parked near to. On G Maps, there's a photo of a red van?/vehicle parked on the other side of the same barn

( obviously it might not be the same vehicle but .... she reported it on 27th Jan when she saw it & then called again on 2nd Feb. I just wonder if it's come to nothing or they might have said something at the last press conference. Anyway, good on the woman for reporting, regardless)

I've just realised we don't have any information on where Nicola parked her car.
But we know she drove there, and dropped the kids at school.

It looks from street view, that parents park along Hall Lane leading up to a property that looks like a barn.

I guess they are just saying it was seen spotted there - maybe it moved from there to the bridge area where the Garstang lane path exit was? IMO. Still doesn’t explain how NB would have got to the bridge exit unless she was threatened or tricked. IMO.

Especially as it was parked next to a barn on hall lane which is very close to the upper field where she was last spotted

The CCTV camera at the caravan park was broken and it was the ONLY camera that was broken from all the surrounding area. Does nobody find that strange? Have all the caravans been searched (unoccupied and occupied)? Have any search dogs been used?
The only other suggestion is to widen the search area(on land) to beyond where they think the lady could possibly be. Think outside the box.

For the avoidance of confusion, the witness saw a tatty red van outside a barn.
