Not necessarily. There was a trial recently in the UK where a little boy was murdered by his mom and step dad. The boy was mixed race, and after the step dad was found guilty it was revealed that he had been a member of the national front - a racist group. That information was not put before the jury as it could have prejudiced them, even though it offers a clear motive.
Yes.
You are right.
I remember Logan M :(

A song for all medical staff following this thread :)

The girls singing are all medics: doctors, nurses, etc from my country.
Enjoy :)

I recall there being a change in her evidence regarding the timeframe but can't find it anywhere!
Remember she has given evidence on two days only so find them days on Cheshire standard live reporting and you have your quotes. That might be why you can’t find them, no general coverage of that particular quote but cs live reporting with more details will give you the right one.

this is for everyone as well.
this link has every article on the case by Cheshire standard, all organised with most recent articles and reporting at the end.

What link?

ETA it was definitely reported on the daily updates here, as I remember discussing it afterwards, as it was a complete change of story as she'd been so adamant that it was written July 2016 in her police interviews!

I'll have a quick search

@Sweeper2000

Here's the original post

10:53am

Mr Myers asks about notes.
Letby says, about her notes, "it's something I have done my whole life".
She adds she has "difficulties" throwing things away, and that includes notes.
Mr Myers asks about one of the notes she had written. Letby says she does not have a precise date of when she had written it - between July 2016 and July 2018. The note is headlined 'Not good enough'.

Via Chester Standard.

However... the update was at 10.53 and by some bizarre twist of fate the Chester Standard website is now only showing updates from 12.25pm that day so you can't see the original update there. A google search of the words "between July 2016 and July 2018. The note is headlined 'Not good enough" shows that another LL discussion forum also reported the same update.

In such a case the Jury should be aware of it as it (allegedly) might have been part of the motive, no?
JMO
No, often these things are suppressed or knocked out during the early stages of trial, usually defence will negotiate it.
ETA typo and also the example someone included above about Logan is perfect example

Weird. I can see it being a typo when in detail. Just didn’t put in the last date “2018”. in my Post numbered 316 though that includes that reporting I think? is it the original quotes then?

Asked about the note in the police interview, she said: "I just wrote it because everything had got on top of me.
"It was when I'd not long found out I'd been removed from the unit and they were telling me my practice might be wrong, that I needed to read all my competencies - my practice might not have been good enough.

See what being a typo?

Here's more detail from the podcast ,of what she said in her police interview re the note being written in July 2016 (13 mins onwards) including:

Police: At which point did it all become, to the extent that you were saying "Kill myself right now" "Overwhelming"
LL: It was when I was removed from the unit, in July 2016

Worth a listen to see just how clear she was that it was written in July 2016.

If Chester standard got the dates wrong then deleted the incorrect reporting.

She was certainly clear that it was written in 2016, i Find that strange it was found in her 2016 diary but she said anytime til 2018. So strange. She even explained when asked about the police investigation in the note that she thought it might escalate to them through the investigation.

Yes.
You are right.
I remember Logan M :(

That case broke my heart and I won't read any new children's cases ever since, as it's too upsetting.

The very idea of that beautiful bright mixed race little boy who looked just like his real dad, living with a racist violent abuser and his mini me violent teen aged protege doesn't bear thinking about - the lived reality of that poor child day in day out during lockdown and the excruciating pain he lived with before death :(

Apologies for going off topic. LL case is one of the last 'child' cases I'm following now and then I'm strictly adults only!

Oh but let us not forget that she reported that shebecame aware of police involvement in November 2016 (five months after being put on admin and 6 months before public announcement of investigation) And given that she already confessed that the note was written whilst on admin and before she knew about the police, this then provides a window of just 5 months, July 16- Nov 17. So why is she now expanding that to a 2 year time frame?

Yes, I've noticed this with Chester Standard updates being missing for the morning when I've looked back for something before. I think it might be something to do with their storage or a glitch in their system.

Good job we've got the updates copy/pasted here as they were being put out.

Didn't the police officially get involved in May 2017?

The public announcement was in may 17 but she was made aware of the police investigation in Nov 16, presumably off the back of the independent enquiry. She received a letter the same month I believe.
Side note - Dotta, could you confirm 'enquiry' or 'inquiry' please! :)
