No matter when she wrote that note to the triplets, it is bizarre behaviour. She basically apologised to all 3 of them for 2 being dead. And saying 'if no one else will think of you on this day I WILL---what the heck does that mean? Is she implying their parents are not grieving their deaths so she will?

And I think O and P were pretty obviously done in by the defendant---allegedly. But that note to them just seals the deal, IMO.
Absolutely.

Our, or rather LL's, "gang of 4" (which became 6 when we added the shredder and the paperwork) are now in cahoots with Mr. Phone Texts. Mr. PT is just such a blabbermouth.

It’s so much easier now to understand why LL showed her emotions for the first time when the Doc she was allegedly sweet on turned up in this trial. You knew it meant something to her, and it affected her visibly.

OH MY GOD. WHAT THE ACTUAL CENSORED.

I’m quickly reading up on the reporting while I have a minute.

Dr Choc IS married. And she lied about something they literally have video evidence of, about getting arrested in pyjamas.

WTF.

PS If I was the judge I wouldn’t even have granted the reporting restrictions for him. He should be named and shamed.
And that Pyjama arrest was her source of PTSD, according to her earlier testimony. That it was a so humiliating. But actually she was appropriately dressed in a matching track suit.

The interesting thing here; at the start of the trial she appeared quite meek and her defence discussed her being easily distracted and PTSD etc. yet we’ve not heard much of this “easily distracted” since that. She seems to have held herself very well imo. The PTSD she claimed, has been torn apart by the prosecution too; she sounded quite reluctant to have the video played of her arrest in a tracksuit rather than pjs as she had claimed.

Tangled in her own web of deceit. I wonder how the jury are considering all this.

I’m surprised NC didn’t insist on that video being played anyway.

A 'social timeline' is shown to the court, detailing meetings with the doctor in Harford, Cheshire Oaks (twice) and London between May-June 2017.
LL: I'm near the park next to where you are, let me know where you are finishing up and I'll see you outside
Doctor: Ok will do See you soon ❤️[red heart emoji]
LL: ❤️ [smile and red heart emoji]
Letby denies the doctor was her boyfriend.
Letby agrees she had a "very very active social life".
Letby says a future date on the Facebook diary, for September 2017, was listed as a trip to London, but they had to cancel as the doctor had a medical appointment.
She denies again he was her boyfriend.
NJ: "You have deliberately misled the jury about this background."
LL: "No."
NJ: "You have also deliberately misled them about the circumstances of your arrest, haven't you?"
LL: "No."
Letby says the police knocked on her door at 6am when they arrested her. She says she thought she had a nightie and a tracksuit and trainers.
Mr Johnson says Letby was taken away in a blue Lee Cooper leisure suit. Letby says she is not sure. Mr Johnson says video footage can be played of her arrest. Letby agrees she was taken away in that leisure suit.
For the 2019 arrest, Letby agrees she was not taken away in her pyjamas.
NJ: "Why did you lie to the jury about this?"
LL: "I don't know."
Letby says it was the first arrest when she was taken in her pyjamas.
NJ: "Do you want to watch the video?" Letby does not respond.
NJ: "You are a very calculating woman, aren't you"
LL: "No."
NJ: "You tell lies deliberately."
NJ: "And the reason you tell lies is to get sympathy and attention from people."
Mr Johnson says Letby was killing children to get attention.
LL: "I didn't kill the children."
NJ: "You're getting quite a lot of attention now, aren't you?"

12:23pm

One of Letby's handwritten notes is shown to the court. It is the one which includes a draft sympathy message for Child O, Child P and another triplet.
Mr Johnson asks why a sympthy message has included the name of the surviving triplet as well as the names of Child O and Child P.
NJ: "Was that your objective, to kill all three?
LL: "No."
NJ: "Did that excite you?"
LL: "Absolutely not."

Bombshell after bombshell! o_O

I wonder if we'll get to see that video of her arrest if she is convicted.

Interesting he’s given her the chance with each time to raise the medical failings or shortcomings by medical professionals/doctors “gang of 4” and each time she couldn’t. Given her the chance to change anything, her arrest etc and she wouldn’t until he mentioned that video. So not only is she a liar, appears to have altered several nursing documents, has countless handover sheets in her possession, allegedly harmed/killed all these fragile, tiny babies; she has also lied under oath and seemingly covering up what appears to be an affair with a married dr choc- all to get attention.

maybe he will add a picture from it in his closing arguments.

It would be fun if he could show the jury a video of her opening testimony when she took the stand---acting all shy and sweet, and crying about being taken away in her PJ's, while her poor father was there to see it. And how awful and degrading it was, and no one understands how hard it is, to travel so far to court each day...and how unfair this all is.

It worked well the first time but it would land different if they saw it again.

Meyers tried to give her legal cover when he got up to redirect her today. He got her to say that she couldn't expound on the medical shortcomings because she only knows about nursing care, not medical care and their shortcomings. She is sure there were some but she cannot explain them herself.

ETA:

Letby adds from a nursing perspective she can comment on that care, but medical care [from a doctor] is a "different realm".
Letby says she can only put a nursing perspective on the issues.

Letby says she does not know how the insulin levels of a blood sample are tested. She says she has never worked in a lab for the purposes of such testing.
Letby says she accepted the results on the basis of the evidence that is presented in the trial.

I actually felt quite saddened for baby Ns father earlier; that agreed “fact” in evidence where baby’s Ns father claimed LL called him- was then redacted. Another case where a parent is wrong, colleagues and doctors are wrong. Everyone was mistaken or wrong- except the accused apparently.

Even if it was just an emotional affair, it is still wrong. If my husband is sending heart emojis to a young blonde and texting her from 6 am, all day, praising her until 1 am, leaving her chocolates, sending confidential emails from his superiors to her, jeopardising his own job, offering her his car, taking her on a day trip to London---I'm packing up his bags and leaving them on the front stoop...

Well quite.

<modsnip: not victim friendly>

No wonder he choose anonymity.

I should think that Mrs Doctor certainly knows about the doc's "fling" - even if he didn't confess to her, I'm pretty sure she would have put 2 and 2 together by now. If LL is found guilty, it will probably help the doc, as he and his wife will both be able to put (most of) the blame on LL and her "wicked ways".

Yes it’s awful how quickly she discredits anyone who stands against her - doctors, parents, other nurses.

The only thing I don’t get about the is call is it would be traceable and it should be simple to demonstrate a call occurred from the hospital to the fathers phone. In terms of who then placed that call well I’d be inclined to believed the father that it was LL unless he’s off to join the ‘band of 4(hundred). Eye roll

I think they do know the call from the hospital was made to the father because he hurried to the hospital after he received the call. He was sure it was Nurse Letby, but she denies it was, for some reason. But no way to know who actually made it

Although with all the lying she has been caught out with on the stand, I am not sure if she will be credible when it is her word against his.

The thing with dr choc being married; if he was indeed as “very close friend” as she claims, surely she would know dr chocs wife, his children, events or days at his home, sharing a cocktail or too with her, female bonding etc. I have one or two close male friends and they know my partner and my family including my parents. They are like part of the extended family as good friends who actually know the spouse.

Doesn’t seem to be much of that here; imo it does sound very much like an affair.
