I think it was Tortoise who said before that, if guilty LL seems to have targeted those babies whose deaths would have the biggest impact.

IF guilty, it feels almost like she's writing the script for a soap opera, aiming for the biggest drama, the saddest scenario.

So, if guilty....
She hears that a couple have been trying for years for a baby- so she decides to try to kill that baby.
She hears that after losing one twin, the father is terrified that they're going to lose the other twin too- so she decides to try to kill that baby.
She hears that a baby is about to celebrate being 100 days old, sees the banners and the cake - so she tries to kill that baby.... on that day.

Only this isn't a soap opera. This is real life, with real people with real emotions.

IMO

It might have been me who said that. If it wasn't me who said it, I was definitely thinking exactly the same as you :(

It is a slang word but I don’t think I would use rubbish to describe how an ill person especially baby looks. Possibly just me but I would’ve used ‘looked terrible’.
It doesn't matter what alternate words you'd have used. Her usage of it is not unusual at all. It never struck me as being at all unusual. In fact, the fact that people are questioning it is unusual to me, to be honest.

Are you from the area where she grew up or lived? Language can vary subtly over very short distances and you can't necessarily assume that something said by someone will be understood the same by someone even 20 miles away.

I don't see anything unusual in it at all. The word is commonly used in that context here. I know people who use it like that all the time.

We use it the same in Australia but I would never use it to describe a child I worked with even if ill. I might say "this sickness is rubbish" or something like that but I'd never say "he's rubbish" or "she looks like rubbish". That's extremely harsh language to use in a professional context IMO (I'm not a nurse but I do care for children) and I'd never use it about a child even just to colleagues and I wouldn't expect them to use it either

With regards to the rubbish comments. It’s not uncommon for mums here in the UK to describe their kids as “he’s been rubbish last few days” when talking about being ill and off school. It’s not a professional term I’d expect from a nurse but I suppose it was a private conversation.

What sticks out most to me in her texts is that she is super quick to mention a possible reason for the collapses. It feels forced and not natural conversation.

Yes I do think this latest one in particular is very "in depth"

It's a shame we don't hear everything said in court as I'd like to know why she popped into the unit that evening..did she have another reason to go in us how often she "pops" in

It is strange isn't it, looking at the timeline of texts from the 7th, she messages her on-duty colleague to ask if Child G is being transferred and they discuss Child G's condition. Then LL goes into the unit that evening, and then texts that same colleague to say “She looks awful doesn’t she.” which implies she saw Child G whilst at the unit

Yes, the updates said she had seen G that night, and texted her blood gas reading.

Such a weird thing to do in my opinion, she comes across as really overbearing, obsessive and emotional. It's odd to me to just pop into the unit to do this.

Cannot see a single update today, even risked going on twitter at work! Wonder if there's anything going on today, we did have a long day yesterday...

I’m keeping an eye on Twitter. Will post anything I find

I didn’t find the term “rubbish” nasty, abnormal or inappropriate, but I did find it very cringey.

It seems twee, like slang for middle class, middle aged ladies who are too nice to use actual slang.

This is from baby I's case which starts 9 days after baby G came back to the Countess -

"The cause of death was given by the coroner as Hypoxic ischaemic damage of brain and chronic lung due to prematurity and 1b. Extreme prematurity.

All loops of bowel showed significantly dilated lumen due to increased air content – in layman’s terms they were expanded like a partially inflated balloon. There was no sign of NEC (bowel necrosis) or any other bowel problem.

The prosecution say there were signs of "earlier hypoxic ischaemic damage – in other words, the earlier attempts to kill her had caused brain damage resulting from a shortage of oxygen."

Recap: Prosecution opens trial of Lucy Letby accused of Countess of Chester Hospital baby murders

(my schedule) -
7 Sep 2015 - Baby G - attempted murder charge – girl - night - not designated nurse

So this baby girl was attacked, possibly by air injection of some kind, one day.

2 weeks later she is attacked again, 2 nights in a row.

1 week later she is attacked 2 more times, both in the same night. This time it is a murder.

There's a very extreme fixation on Baby I, if I remember correctly she also sent a card to Child I's parents, and kept a picture of it on her phone too?

"In June 2019, she was asked about a sympathy card she had sent to the child's parents. She said it was not normal to do so - and this was the only time she had done so."

Why specifically Child I

The texts....she also gets defensive again about how another nurse had heard the news about G. She has done this before. Why does she care how someone found out a baby had nearly died, or who told them? Why the guessing games over who texted the nurse? A baby has died/nearly died. Who gives a **** who told a colleague the bad news, or that they were even told....

Exactly! It's weird she has pulled the 'who told you???' card at least twice now as if it's not something they would or should be told at work. Then she goes on to play a weird guessing game about it as if she's trying to find out office gossip. Fine for her to talk about other nurses but gets offended when people know what is happening at work?

Even if she is not guilty, she is a peculiar person imo. The obsessive texting, Facebook stalking, defensiveness, overly interested in the families, walking into rooms of grieving parents, strange way of talking to parents, turning up late at night when off shift.....
