If this was to pay off some kind of debt by Cashman then I wonder if the fact that he turned out to be a terrible marksman means this whole tragedy hasn’t even got him anywhere? Is he a marked man in prison seeing as he could grass people up?
What a life.

I think he is more likely to be a target in prison for killing a little girl. But I'm sure he will definitely need to watch his back, for either reason.

The whole thing reeks of desperation to me. Like you all say, the complete lack of planning, not to mention all the times he drove past/ walked past the house JN was in that day. I mean, he had the element of surprise in the original ambush - how hard could it have been to wait outside the house and shoot joey when he came out, then leg it back to his own house.

The unnamed woman said he had a spliff in his hand when he got to hers. I wonder if he was stoned/ under the influence of something when he did this. Might explain a few things. JMO

I guess somebody finally lost patience. Even the mob must have realized that killing little girls is not good for the "business".
Somebody must have had enough of LE scrutiny and decided to get rid of liabilty that was him.

How tragic that this also happened and is unrelated. So sick of gun violence, in the US especially, but really anywhere.

I met a lady at work who was traveling from Canada to the US for the first time for vacation and a road trip with her husband and 2 daughters. She told me that they had to convince their teenage daughters for over a week that it'd be ok to come to the US bc they were so terrified of guns and police here. It hurt my heart so badly. And now, seeing all this in the UK... what is the world coming to.

RIP to these two, as well as Olivia. SO tragically unfair and in such a traumatizing way. Unreal.

How do we think the witnesses examination will be taken by the jury? I imagine the prosection will be cringing at her manner, and cross that she got into insults/rows with the defence barrister. But I also think she held her own. I guess it depends on each jury members personality. Some might be unimpressed by her behaviour and disregard the validity of what she claims based on her manner, whereas others might see past that and think the defence went for her too much, and it was blatent witness bashing. Thoughts?

I felt the KC over did it by spending too much time trying to make her out to be an habitual liar. She admitted that she had told an initial lie, due to fear, but overall, the remainder of her evidence sounded honest.

I also thought her comment - this trial should be all about Olivia - will have gone down well with the Jury, who may have become weary listening to the KC keep pushing away about the relationship ( or lack of ) with TC.

Also, the fact that the Judge had to remind the KC that the witness had already answered him, when he kept pushing a question, did him no favours.

Hopefully the Jury can sift the facts from the witness baiting.

And I imagine TC is cringing as he listens to the description of his sexual capabilities.

I agree.

And to me its quite simple. I cant see that she would put herself through all of this, and presumably a lifetime in witness protection, just to get back at him for having affairs/using her for sex.

Personally, if true, he went to the wrong house looking for refuge that night!

This woman seems to be another victim of the defendant IMO.
I pity her and also applaud her courage.

Not everybody has guts to stand in a witness box and fend off not so subtle examination.

If guilty, I dont know at this point that he would know Olivia and her Mum had been shot. He was clearly in a heightened state because of the shooting, and the fact it was somewhat bungled and not a clean kill (ie he doesnt actually know if JN is dead, and its ended up in someones house which presumably isnt part of the plan).

lf guilty, I wonder what his reaction was when he got the news alert that an 9yr old girl had been shot dead in the area he had discharged multiple shots hours earlier...

From what I understand from reports he put his arm through the door and fired without actually knowing where the bullets would land. Initially the impression I got was that he could see into the house but that doesn’t appear to the the case. It sounded very heated today.

Exactly. Olivias Mum and Brother both said they just saw a hand and a gun.

I think that shot went into a door frame... The fatal shot came from when the gunman was fully outside, and it went through the front door? Is that correct?

I think the defence have had to go in hard to undermine her credibility today, because they probably don’t have many options to dispel the fact that Cashman was the shooter. Her testimony places him very near to the scene of the crime, (which he is disputing), so it’s crucial for the defence to undermine this fact to the jury, otherwise it corroborates that he was in the vicinity and knew he had to get rid of his clothing etc and was probably the shooter.

I would hate to be on the stand personally, and for every little thing I said to be picked over and shredded in public, she’s obviously quite a quick-tempered individual, but I think on the whole she came across quite well, and that the Jury probably had more sympathy for her than they did the barrister.
