GUILTY UK - Paige Doherty, 15, Clydebank, 19 March 2016

It is more the Drumchapel young ones who use this area, From what I recall when I was younger it was mostly used for fighting between the two different areas. I do not know why the attacker chose to leave her so close to the road, that doesn't add up, I do think she has been offered a lift from her bus stop but from that point I do not know. You think someone would've seen something its very rarely a beautiful day in Glasgow like it was on Saturday, there were so many people outside yet nobody has seen a thing.

I'm thinking she was left so close to the road so that she was found quickly - am still leaning towards someone she knew :(

Yeah I think it was someone she has known, which is awful.

She was only 4ft 8, so tiny would stand no chance. To stab such a young girl multiple times screams its personal a crime of passion. Though I could be completely wrong and this case might do a total U turn stranger things have happened. Such a shame.

I wonder whether this spot was chosen to cast suspicion on the young people who hang out there.

Question: would she herself also have gone to this spot sometimes? Or is this a different kind of group, different age, that hangs out there usually?

BIB yes, I wondered about that, otherwise seems a very public place to leave a body when there would have been better hiding places not too far away ( by car ).

I also wondered - if, as seems likely, Paige was not left at the site until Monday morning, was this because the person or persons who committed the crime knew that this area was likely to be busy as a meeting place over the week end, so they had to wait for Monday at a quiet time.
or
Did this person or persons not have access to a car until Monday - and even then, only limited access so had to leave her somewhere quickly, no chance to go further afield.

Do we know whether the police think Paige disappeared en route to the bus stop in East Barnes Street, or is it possible she did take a bus from here to the centre of Glasgow and disappeared from there.

From what I gathered they are going to direction of she was last seen at the bus stop. I don't think she ever made it on to that bus though, Mornings can be chilly here maybe her bus was running late and someone offered her a lift?

And I think they know the area pretty well to place her there so they would know how busy it is at weekends, but at 3-4 am on a Monday morning it would be empty so theyve taken their chance.

Do the buses have CCTV installed? Ours do, in Dundee so wondered if Glasgow area ones do too.

  • #148
It does seem likely that someone offered a lift because, as Pabs said, there were many people around that morning and no one saw or heard anything, so she probably willingly got into a car.

Yeap, all Glasgow first buses have CCTV a bus ride on a Saturday night in Glasgow NEEDS cctv LOL.

They haven't said a word about her possibly getting on the bus so that makes me thinks she never made it. Such a slim time window with buses every 10-15 minutes. If it isn't someone who knew her then its been an opportunist.

Which makes me think the person is young also or someone she knows, I don't imagine a 15 year old girl who is from an area of the city where you do need to be street smart getting into a car with someone who is a lot older.

New here recently signed up..
I am actually from Clydebank, know the area like the back of my hand stay 2 seconds away from the scene. Where her body was found is somewhere only locals will know. Its a popular spot for the young ones to hang around in, but hugely populated that weekend as the sun was shining. The journey from the Bus Stop at Whitecrook to where she has end up is only roughly 5 minutes in the car but to walk it would take well over the half hour, me and partner had noticed that she has got every family member on her FB except her step dad bit strange to me.

Welcome, and thanks for your local perspective.
I think she must of been placed there at night it would be just too busy in the daytime.

This link which was posted yesterday seems to have been updated.

http://www.scotland.police.uk/whats-happening/news/2016/march/murder-inquiry-launched-in-clydebank

There is a new picture of Paige and Det. Sloan is asking again for information from the public.

“The response from our appeal yesterday has been encouraging, and a team of detectives are currently working through all information which has been passed to the incident room over the last 24 hours.

"We’ve managed to carry out significant door to door enquiries and are in the process of reviewing CCTV which may be useful to help track Paige’s last movements.

“Despite the progress that is being made, I would like to take this opportunity to ask the local community of Clydebank again for their assistance in helping us piece together Paige’s movements between Saturday 19 March and Monday 21 March.

“We know that the last confirmed sighting of Paige was on Saturday morning at around 8.20am at the shop in Fleming Avenue. I need to hear from people who recognise her image that we have issued, and who seen her that morning.

I had a * walk * on google maps from the Deli on Fleming Avenue to the bus stop on East Barnes Street.... from what I could see, the route that Paige would have taken is down a few quiet residential streets.
On a Saturday at 8.20 am it might be too early for some folk to be up and around, so if the streets were empty then someone in a car might have been able to take a chance and intercept Paige before she reached the bus stop.
That said, I still lean towards someone she knew offering her a lift.

Could she have gotten on a bike with a young guy?

Now that's a better picture of her.

The thing that is puzzling me the most with all of this is where was she for them 3 days, was she dead or alive? The area she is from is very populated and can be tricky to figure out routes if you aren't familiar with it which is why I think its local. Its crazy that there isn't any official leads yet either considering how public its been and even the location of the body etc. Really odd.

Alyce did you go the North Elgin St route? From knowing the area that is the direction I would have taken from the Deli, possible she went Johnston Avenue. In my opinion both are busy residential streets and at 8.20 I think there would be many people making their way to work, Whitecrook imo is always quite a busy place.

I agree with your thoughts that she has been offered a lift by someone she knows.

Strange that there has been no mention from the police about her phone yet. Was it found with her or is it missing? A girl of her age would have a mobile glued to her. Police would be tracking her movements and perhaps the phones of people who knew her.

Ironside if you watch the full press briefing given by the detective in charge the press do ask whether personal belongings such as phone have been recovered at the site where Paige was found, the detective however answers by saying something along the lines of - this is part of the ongoing inquiries. I am not really sure if that means they are still looking for it or just avoiding giving a direct answer?

During this briefing the press also focus on it being someone she knew, they ask several times if it is possible she knew her killer.
