We are asking for the help of the public to trace a man, aged in his early thirties, reported missing in the Tyndrum area.

Patrick Allan Munroe, was last seen at the Pine Trees Leisure Park Campsite, Tyndrum, about 8am on Thursday, 6 April, when it is believed he set out to walk in the hills, possibly in the direction of Benn Oss. He has not been seen since and concerns are growing for his welfare.

Patrick is described as 6ft, of slim, athletic build, and speaks with an American accent. He has shoulder length ginger hair and beard. When last seen he was wearing a blue t-sire, dark green jacket, a baseball cap and walking trousers and boots. He may have been carrying a rucksack.

Inspector David Ryan said: “We are keen to locate Patrick to make sure he is safe and well. He was equipped for walking in the hills but he has not been seen for several days and we need to make contact with him.

“If you have been in the area or are going to be out and about can you please get in touch if you see anyone matching Patrick’s description or hear of where he might be.

“Anyone who can help should call us on 101, quoting reference number 2915 of Monday, 10 April, 2023.”

O no. This would make it 4 walkers/campers who have disappeared this year from Scotland. Some of those missing are experienced walkers. I wonder what is happening to people. Really hope Patrick is located safe soon.

I was noticing this too. Really seems like something is going on that might merit investigation.

Lone, experienced walkers are the ones that get into difficulty more often.

Officers are appealing direct to hill walkers and climbers to get in touch if they have seen a 33-year-old man reported missing in the Tyndrum area.

Patrick Alan Monroe set off from the Pine Trees Leisure Park Campsite around 8am on Thursday, 6 April, and not been seen since.

Enquires so far have established that he reached the summit of Ben Oss around 1.15pm that day. He went on to the summit of Ben Lui, reaching it around 3pm, then along the ridge to Ben A’Cleibh at around 4pm.

It is not known what route Patrick took after this. He could have retraced his steps along the ridge back to Ben Lui or he could have taken a different route to the A85 and on towards Tyndrum.

Patrick is described as 6ft, of slim, athletic build, and speaks with an American accent. He has shoulder length ginger hair and beard. When last seen he was wearing a blue t-shirt, dark green jacket, a baseball cap and walking trousers and boots. He may have been carrying a rucksack.

Inspector David Ryan said: “Our efforts to trace Patrick are continuing and we know he reached three summits on the day he was last seen. He was dressed for the outdoors but we are becoming increasingly concerned and need to trace him to establish he is safe and well.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw him after that, particularly other walkers. He may have spoken to someone and indicated what route he was planning to take back to Tyndrum.

“I am also asking anyone out and about to keep an eye out and report any sighting to us. If you live in the area please also check out buildings in case he has sought shelter.”

Anyone who has seen Patrick or might know where he is should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 2915 of Monday, 10 April, 2023.

Note in above police now amended name spelling to Monroe and given age as 33.

Climbed three summits on the day he went missing. Unfortunately he may have succumbed to fatigue and that has led to an accident.
