Family 'very concerned' for 'well-loved' Brixton bartender missing for 8 days

Family and friends are ‘very concerned’ over the ‘unlikely’ disappearance of Philippe Fraser, a ‘well-loved’ bartender at Brixton’s Hootananny, who has been missing for over a week.

Philippe was last seen on Tuesday, June 8 leaving his home, which is above the Hootananny - with two rucksacks.

Philippe’s stepmother, Jean Fraser told My London: “It’s very unlike him, he always told his family where he was going. He always came to his shifts to the pub, he would never not turn up - that’s why we’re very concerned.”

“He is really well-loved at Hootananny. People at Hootananny know him and his personality.”

Phillipe has worked at the Hootananny for the last 10 years, and his aunt owns the venue.

Ms Fraser says the family are unable to get through to Phillipe’s mobile phone as it is now out of battery and goes straight to voicemail.

During the last lockdown, Phillipe spent ‘day and night together’ with his stepmother and father, Alastair.

He's a passionate photographer, mountain biker and ‘nature lover’ of the outdoors - but Ms Fraser says Philippe left most of his photography equipment at his Brixton home.

The family believe Phillipe may have travelled to one of his favourite photography spots in Kew Bridge, Richmond or Epping Forest, Essex.

Philippe is 35-years-old, 5”10 tall of slim build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Unlike most of the people we find ourselves scrutinising on here, he seems to have decent security settings, so good for him.

The MyLondon report I posted at the top of the thread is the closest thing to MSM reporting on his disappearance atm. He's not on Missing People yet either. Hopefully more and more people will pick up his story today. Or better still, he'll come home.

To a favourite photography spot - good associations, happier times, scene of previous successes, thinking time, peace and quiet, time out...?

He may have had some basic photography kit with him. He took two rucksacks. This looks a bit more like a planned thing than just a walking impulsively out of your life thing. Which is good imo.

Yes it’s a bit of ‘luggage’ indicating he will be staying somewhere

wonder if a tent was included? Maybe gone off grid for a bit. Pubs have opened up again, so life beginning to get back to normal

The search for a 'well-loved' Brixton bartender who has been missing for two weeks has been ramped up as concerned family members continue to look for him across London.

Philippe Fraser, 36, was last seen on Tuesday, June 8 leaving his home which is above Brixton's Hootananny - with two rucksacks.

Since Philippe's disappearance, Channel 4 news reporter Jon Snow and Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie have shown their support on social media to help widen the search.

Rose is a cousin of Philippe's and posted a video wishing him a happy 36th birthday on Saturday (June 19).

She says: "It's your birthday today but you have been missing since the 8th of June. Your friends and family are very worried about you so please get in touch.

“And a very happy birthday to you, wherever you are.”

Philippe's stepmum, Jean Fraser, told My London last week that his family are 'very concerned' for the well-loved bartender.

Over the weekend, Philippe's family have been searching London and some of his favourite photography sites, putting up hundreds of missing leaflets in nearby supermarkets and cafés.

Mrs Fraser told My London today (Monday, June 21): "His cousins are taking it in shifts to go out onto the streets in London to look for him. We just want to know that he’s still alive and still functioning."

Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie has released an emotional video wishing her missing cousin well on his 36th birthday.

Ms Leslie’s cousin, Philippe Fraser, is a popular barman at the Hootananny pub in Brixton.

Mr Fraser was last seen leaving the pub with his belongings on June 8 but has not been seen or heard from since.

His worried family say it is very out of character for him to go missing and have urged him to get in touch.

The concerned family of a 'well-loved' Brixton bartender are now searching for him in the Alps, after Met police reportedly told them he left the country on Wednesday, June 9.

Philippe Fraser, 36, was last seen on Tuesday, June 8 leaving his home which is above Brixton's Hootananny - with two rucksacks.

Since his disappearance over two weeks ago, Philippe's family have been searching all over London 'in shifts' to look for him.

However, Philippe's step-mum, Jean Fraser told My London today the Met revealed to the family that he had in fact left the country on June 9, the day after his last known sighting.

Mrs Fraser said: "I wish we had known before we launched that massive search in London. Now we are looking in the Alps.

"The Alps is a huge area."

Well, okay. So... is he still regarded as missing? Or has he just gone on holiday?

Still I guess 'missing', but he may be trekking in some remote part and not looking at English news reports or seen anything about himself.

Does seem odd though that for over 2 weeks he has not been in touch with any friends or family.

Yes, somewhat odd. I can understand not being in touch if you want to take some time out, especially if you're someone who's into natural spaces etc. The key thing is the mismatch between what's happened and the expectation of the family that he would 'normally' have communicated his plans, and the absence over his birthday, of course.

It does seem to be a more purposeful picture than was originally feared, though, which is positive imo. I feel more hopeful than I did that he'll rock up before long, a bit sheepish about the fuss. The dead phone is a worry, but I wonder if it's actually dead or just out of cell range. There's a lot of really useful analysis of this kind of thing in the Esther Dingley threads.

I wonder if there'll be more info in the coming days about what region he's thought to be in, how he's travelling etc, which might help to focus the appeal for sightings.

Bizarre that it took the police this long to run his passport number.
