I know his wife might instantly jump into someone's head as a potential victim but, the murder scene is the house in Birmingham so the wife would've had to be taken there or go there to be murdered ...

From his social media, he and his wife seem fairly happy and 'normal' ... not that that means much since we at Websleuth know better but, y'know ... nothing instantly jumps out as a red flag.

Except doesn’t the wife’s FB say she lives in London?

'A man charged by police after a woman's dismembered body was discovered in suitcases dumped in the Forest of Dean has today been pictured for the first time.

Married father-of-two Mahesh Sorathiya, 38, from Wolverhampton was held by officers after the human remains were found inside two bags on Tuesday night.'

'The victim, reportedly 'sawed in half', is thought to be a woman from the Lozells area of Birmingham, has not been named pending DNA results.'

If the ‘sawing in half’ took place post-mortem it does not suggest much intelligence on the part of the perpetrator(s).

Surely any adult would know that this is really not a good idea*

Maybe drugs &/or alcohol involved.

My heart goes out to the family of the poor lady, the victim in this shocking murder.

* PLEASE NOT moderating my own post here to avoid graphic details, which are not necessary *

BBM is that who we expected, or someone else, unrelated to him?

Really curious what the connection was to the victim.

Also from this link..

A Mercedes remained parked in the drive of the house but there was no sign of the family's white Range Rover, bought as a Valentine's Day present for Redha.

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: 'They are a well off family. It's a nice house to live in and there's usually a white Range Rover outside.

Gareeca lives in Lozells and that's where the murder scene is and where the victim is from so, I'm leaning towards the victim being connected to her rather than Mahesh...

Lozells is an interesting area of Birmingham.
Inner city, high poverty, high crime, over crowded housing.

It's one of the areas most neglected by Birmingham city council in favour of gentrification of other areas.

I'm keen to learn the connection between Gareeca and Mahesh

Not sure how I grew up to be such a torso crimes buff, but I'm following this like a tennis match.

Woman appears in court
A Birmingham woman accused of the murder of a woman whose body was found in two suitcases last Tuesday has today been sent for crown court trial.

Jamaican national Gareeca Conita Gordon, 27, of Salisbury Road, Birmingham, made a brief appearance via video link at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court this morning and was remanded in custody to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on Tuesday May 19.

Wearing a grey jumper, Ms Gordon was told she is charged with murdering a so far unidentified woman between April 14th and May 12th at Salisbury Road in Birchfield, Birmingham. She did not give any indication of a plea to the charge.

The prosecutor told the court that the case was too serious to be dealt with at magistrates’ court.

Matthew Harbinson defending said he would not be applying for bail.

District Judge Joti Bopa Rai remanded Gordon into custody until her court hearing Gloucester Crown Court on May 19.

A second defendant, Mahesh Sorathiya, 38, of Denmore Gardens, Wolverhampton, has yet to appear before the court.

He is accused of assisting Ms Gordon in the commuissoin of an offence.

The victim, thought to be a woman from the Lozells area of Birmingham, has not been named pending DNA results.

She could have died as long as a month before the body was discovered, the court was told.

Ms Jones said: 'The investigation began with a road traffic stop by police in Forest of Dean.

'Ms Gordon was found near a quarry while Mr Sorathiya was located up the road and the suitcases were located nearby.

'Mr Sorathiya told the police that he had dropped Ms Gordon at a remote location with a bicycle.'

She said the body was decomposing when police found it in the suitcases.

The court was told the pair had made a number of trips from the Midlands to Gloucestershire and that the body's remains were charred.

Making a bail application for Mr Sorathiya, defence lawyer Ryan O'Donnell said that his client had received a 'small recompense' for his taxi service to the area.

'Mr Sorathiya was spotted cleaning his car in Coleford's high street with wet wipes,' he said.

'He has a settled home life, even if his wife kicked him out recently for a few days after an argument.'

So is there a possibility that he is a taxi driver?? It's all very strange

This whole story is bizarre. I wonder who the dead woman is, and if she had been dead a while, did anyone wonder what had happened to her?

It sounds like she had been dead for a month. The suspects may have been waiting for Coronavirus restrictions to be eased before dumping the body.

"Dead for a month," of course, adds even higher strangeness: dead where for a month?

I thought the version of Matthew Arnold's famous poem on an earlier thread sums up humorously Blighty and torsos, based at least on a 2012 case.

I don't think they've mentioned the head have they? I wonder what happened to this poor woman's head. Moo.
