Well, good lawyers usually work for bad people.

Hazard of the job I guess.

Phillips, a former Labour leadership contender who campaigns for women’s rights, said the idea that Prince Andrew could help support victims of trafficking was “ridiculous”

In a joint statement on the settlement, Prince Andrew had pledged to “demonstrate his regret for his association” ..... by supporting the “fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims”.

Phillips said this was inappropriate
“His response to the case throughout broke every myth and stereotype, from s**t shaming to referring to [VG] wanting a payday,” Phillips said.

“The behaviour that has been displayed throughout the last four years does not speak to somebody who could be an ally to victims of sexual violence.”

Phillips also said it was not the responsibility of campaigners and charities working to end violence against women “to offer any redemption”.

“We’ve got a lot on without rehabilitating princes,” she said.

Many in the sector suggested charities would prefer not to have a public association with the prince and questioned whether it was appropriate for him to offer.

* Andrew can no longer repeat denial that he raped Virginia Giuffre under terms of settlement
* Duke's main concern was to ensure nothing overshadowed the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
* Giuffre to give victim statement at Ghislaine Maxwell sentencing in June
Exclusive: Prince Andrew agrees to never again repeat his denial that he raped Virginia Giuffre

UBM

"A gagging clause means neither side can discuss the case or the financial deal, which was signed off at the weekend. "

Boies has said there was no NDA signed though and theres talk she will be writing a book etc so the gagging thing seems wrong unless theres two different things NDA and gagging

I think an NDA is a separate document, a contract.
Perhaps the gagging clause is a clause written within the settlement. Negating the need for a separate NDA.

Just a little technicality, perhaps.

Maybe this gagging clause refers only to the details of the settlement?
And the sum of money?

But then, everybody already knows the sum and the details.
So, who was talking?

Has the sum been confirmed officially?

Well, it does say neither of them can discuss 'the case' (as well as the financial agreement).

I would be surprised if PA settled without ensuring his involvement was not further mentioned by VG.

But IANAL.

Could you please supply a link to the exact sum? I've only seen speculation thus far.

Thanks.

No it hasnt . People seem to just be guessing figures at the moment.
Rumours gain legs too quickly. I’d be taking any of it with a pinch of salt.

No, and it probably won’t be, so any figure reported is just a guesstimate. Likewise where the payment is coming from, we’ll never know exactly unless Buck House decides to publish a clarification, because it’s a private matter.

Exactly, one of the terms of settlement is usually that neither side can disclose the sum.

This is so sordid. Seriously. PA should have paid this off months ago. Why he let it drag on, and why he ever did that "Train Wreck" interview is beyond me.

He needs to go directly to the castle and stay there for several months. Which I doubt he will do...I have no doubt he sees himself as a victim here. Poor PA.
