"Palliative", BTW, does not mean "hospice" or "terminal." There are palliative treatments that can go on for years.

He's still doing radition, so they're still trying. It's not hospice/terminal if they're still trying with radition.

A person can be having radiation but be terminal or not.

Once cancer metastasizes, ie spreads, radiation and other therapies are used to shrink tumours to keep the patient more comfortable.

Not all treatments are curative.

I hope the former President isn't suffering. I'm sure cancer treatment at his age can be challenging.

Challenging on the family too. I know I'm not the only WS who suffered the loss of family members from cancer, and it's not a club you want to belong to. I send my thoughts to all of them and hope they can be in a gentle, protective environment in this harsh world.

I just wish former President Biden to feel comfortable, and in no pain. He worked hard. He deserves happy rest, and this is what I am sincerely wishing to him.

Many here are basically stating what Dr Sonn is saying... but his words are nice and simple.

Sonn, who specializes in treating prostate and kidney cancers, was clear in stating that while metastatic prostate cancer is not curable, it is highly treatable. “People can live for years on these hormonal therapy medicines,” he told Politico, noting a wave of newly approved drugs in the last decade that have extended survival. “This is very different than metastatic pancreatic cancer, where most patients are expected to survive only a few months. Prostate cancer can be managed for years.”
