Another Peppercorn Prince.

Kensington Palace is also full of non paying residents. Mostly relatives.

My opinion.

I think when your Mother is the Queen, you don’t pay for a lot of things.

It’s just a given.

Now that Big Brother is King, these ‘deals’ would still apply if only Andrew had not been hiding a lot of information/was not involved with undesirables.

I hope the media does not try to bring down the Monarchy but they seem to be working on it.

I don't think the media is trying to bring the monarchy down.

Why do you think consent isn't relevant in cases of alleged rape?

I agree that consent is not relevant in cases of rape.

Andrew is now...gasp...a "Commoner". His brother, King Charles has stripped every single title!

"An Official Inquiry
was today launched into the Royal Family's Crown Estate properties
following the scandal of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his 'peppercorn' at Royal Lodge.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) announced a probe
which will examine the value for money to taxpayers.

MPs on the committee had challenged the Crown Estate
to outline how it was ensuring good value in relation to Royal Lodge.

The disgraced former prince has lived in the grandiose 30-room home set in 98 pristine acres of Windsor Great Park
rent free for two decades."

"Royal Lodge is in such poor condition
that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
could be forced to walk away without a penny,
officials revealed today.

His 'compensation' for quitting the lease early
– worth nearly half a million pounds –
is likely to be completely wiped out by the cost of repairs."

😳

"The royal biographer Ingrid Seward,
the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine,
warned:
'This is the opening of Pandora's box.
Once those MPs have got their big noses in there,
they are not going to let this go'.

She said William and Kate,
who pay market rent but have been dragged into the parliamentary probe,
will 'be blaming Andrew for this, and quite rightly so',
adding:
'If he had not been so avaricious, money grabbing and dishonest, none of this would have happened'.

While not a government department,
the Crown Estate operates with commercial objectives
and has a duty to maximise value for the public purse."

🤔

If William and Kate are indeed paying market rent, they have no worries about an investigation.

As for Ingrid Seward, well she’s just a journalist trying to make a living.🙃

Market rent? What on earth would that be? The Royal Family has so many properties. Do they pay rent on all of the properties?

Years ago, the Queen was allowing so many displaced "royals" to live in Royal housing. Including, Prince Phillips Family, who were kicked out of Greece. They lived rent free, and were given stipends.

So, it really seems like they are being a bit aggressive on Andrew, formerly known as Prince Andrew. Not that he doesn't deserve it. But it seems like he should have accepted what was "suggested" rather than setting off a spoiled child reaction. And this is the result.

IMO
These vast/enormous properties are "wells without bottom" money wise.

I mean,
heating, electricity, water/hot water, sewage, repairs and maintenance, garbage collection, gardens maintenance and care.
The need for regular technical inspections, etc.

What about insurance?

Not to mention staff salaries.

Jeez!
Money, money, money...

No wonder this Royal Lodge seems to be in "poor condition" as reported in the DM link above.

What a pity!
I think it has historical/national heritage value, no? 🤔

Many of the grand homes on the Royal estates are rented out to wealthy families to earn income.

There is a wealthy family based in Toronto who has a home, Fort Belvedere on the Windsor estate.

The Weston family has been ‘friends’ with royalty for decades and are much wealthier than King Charles (according to reports).

The parents generation have passed away but IIRC, the adult children have taken over the lease.

The late Queen did put everyone up in apartments or homes, one sort of deal or another.

I thought Prince Edward was given Bagshot Park by his mother, was surprised to read that he’s also a peppercorn tenant.
